He took a nasty fall. I cringed every time I saw it. Glad it is nothing serious. Get well Greg! We need you back soon!
I guess this thread is still relevant. A tough season for Greg Smith. If only he could stay healthy, he would have had ample opportunity to carve out a solid spot for himself in the rotation with all of Asik's moping and injuries. According to Stein, he's one of dozens of players throughout the league who are in danger of being cut before January 7th -- when his non-guaranteed deal would become fully guaranteed. http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post/_/id/986/48-players-at-risk-of-being-cut
Wow, there is NO way beverly and smith are in danger of being cut. Stein is an idiot for even thinking this may be the case.
I doubt it. Stein appears to be simply listing guys with non-guaranteed contracts. Pat Beverley is also listed and he's not in any danger of getting cut. The Rockets are not in the luxury tax territory and isn't likely to try to save the extra few hundred thousand dollars guaranteed to Smith. There is also not a free agent out there they need to clear roster space for-- and even if they do, I'd think Ronnie Brewer or Robert Covington would go before Smith.
He explicitly said Beverley is not in danger of bring cut. As for Greg Smith, I wouldn't feel too secure if I was him. Carl Herrera makes good points, though.
He listed every player whose contract isn't fully guaranteed. He isn't saying every single one of them is at risk.
A bunch of the Rowdies had signs for Bev last night... at least one of them could have made one for Greg lol. But we could definitely use him -- wish him a very, very speedy recovery. Is it me, or does it seem like he's been wearing the same suit every game?
Yeah I just saw that, initially i just skimmed his list and didn't bother reading the description. However it is somewhat dense that he would write that and still put beverly in the list. I know he is trying to list the partial contracts but I think fans care more about players who can possibly get cut and picked up by their teams.(Turkoglu for one) It seems useless to list players who have no change of getting cut. Because as a rockets fan I'd love to pick up on player in shelvin mack, c.j. miles, Roger Mason Jr., and from yesterday James Johnson. But I hardly expect these players to be cut.
