I don't claim to be unbiased.

Regardless, what is the basis for your attributing causation here? Personal experiences? Just curious.

Yes, personal experiences and observations, plus having seen reports on TV where reporters filmed undercover (with hidden cameras) what is actually preached in some mosques in Germany where these traveling muslim preachers are. One personal experience is from talking to the neighbor of a friend in Duesseldorf who is also of Turkish origin. This guy used to be just a regular guy who would party, drink, etc. A few years ago he started going to the mosque more and since then he has been radicalized, when you talk to him now, there is a lot of anger at the German government, at the USA, etc. etc. Almost like he's been brainwashed.

So he should go back to partying and drinking and ignore what he sees as poor US/German government policy?

Not unlike you, the guy started saying crazy stuff over time, more as he became more of a religious zealot. At the rate he's going, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes completely nuts at some point and kills someone.

I won't call you any names. I've tried to reach out to you many many times, and this board has seen it with their own eyes.

I don't know how many times and from how many people you need to hear that your views on Islam are distorted for some reason.

    Good luck with this problem.

Why is it that you believe his views are distorted, when he is talking about what he is viewing in his own country, with friends of his.

Isn't it more likely that the Imans that are preaching the hate, or telling immigrants to avoid involving themselves with the German culture, or any prevailing culture really the people that are distorted?

If they don't like the culture there, then why not just go back to one that they are more comfortable with????

Because in his world, and this is reflected by the posts of most Muslim posters here, Islam is perfect and above criticism. Any evidence to the contrary is ignored or brushed off with some crude reasoning, and leads to anger in many cases. Mathloom mostly manages to suppress that anger, in contrast to several of the other Muslim posters here who will resort to insults.

    ATW,

Why doesn't Germany just close it's borders to immigrants then, if it is such a problem or is becomming one, why allow any more immigrants?

Why not just say no, and start extradicting those that are causing problems?

And if they can prove that Imans are preaching hatred, why not toss them out of the country as well?

Deal with the root of the problem in their own country, obviously they can not deal with hatred in another country, but in their own, they could certainly toss it out.

Honestly, the problem is not the people it is the people preaching or teaching the hate.....deal with them....

Couldn't you legislate and enforce that?

We won't close our borders to immigrants, we are a liberal country. Kicking out those that cause problems is also not always easy, because some of them are citizens already (can't kick them out anymore, and Mathloom triumphantly stressed that with regard to some of the Danish Muslims that are causing problems) and others are seeking asylum - can't kick out asylum seekers who might be persecuted in their own country, according to our constitution. Also, it is hard or almost impossible to police what these Imams teach in the mosques, as we have freedom of religion. Islamists abuse western freedoms to advance their own agenda of intolerance and hate, that's a sad fact.

Already said, I'm not doubting that Muslim youth in Germany may be more likely to be violent. In my first or second post. But this ATW doesn't care about that.

What I've said here is that the research doesn't necessarily mean anything about Islam or Imams. Once upon a time, the people in that socio-economic category were Christians, and they were (IMO) brainwashed into engaging in violence. Once upon a time it was Jews, and they were brainwashed into it. Another time it was the Iranians. Then there were N Koreans. Rwandans.

What I'm saying is being Muslim and Young does not necessarily mean more violent. It requires a butt load of factors that have NOTHING to do with Islam in order to bring violence into effect. Those same factors can be applied to any group who identify with each other based on those socio economic conditions and create violence.

He admitted it himself. It does not show causality. But followed it up with something like "but it probably does" or "but I think it does". Are there no violent Jews in Israel? Are there no violent Chritians in the Phillipines? Are there no violent Buddhists? What does all those who are violent have in common? They are poor and not well educated and resort to violence. It's the same everywhere. All the time. Everywhere, religion or no religion. In the Amazon jungle. In the African plains. In the Arabian desserts. In the Australian outback. It has always happened and it always will happen. The poor and segregated members of society resort to violence.

It just so happens that there are 1 billion Muslims, and they are routinely poor and improperly educated (Indonesia, Middle East, India, North Africa).

I'm done talking about that dude. Happy to discuss the issue at hand with you. If you want to sit here and tell me that Islam will increase violent tendencies regardless of time, place, socio-economic conditions, age, education level... then I disagree and the argument is really over.

"I disagree and the argument is really over":

Rather than closing your eyes and ears and stomping your feet and routinely saying "it has nothing to do with Islam" (terrorism, dictatorships in the middle east, cruel laws, oppression of women and gays) and pointing fingers at everyone else, you should look for the root causes within Islam - or at least the way it is taught in many places around the world nowadays (you yourself admitted that there is a problem because much is Saudi-financed and they teach a strange/more aggressive brand of Islam).

I'm not arguing that poverty and lack of education do not play a role. But there is a clear correlation between being a young Muslim male in Germany, spending more time in mosques, and then being more prone to violence. It's a fact.

Seems that you could easily change that law, just revoke their citizenship and send them back to their country of origin if they are causing problems.

As for them having problems in their home country, maybe they would think about that before they start preaching the hate in Germany.

It would only take a few deportations to get the message across...

Agreed, but we are talking about the here and now, if it is the Christians, or Jews or anyone else preaching the hate, kick em out.

Don't put a law in place that is racist, just one that protects the German public......anyone that is guilty of preaching hate or cultural diversion in a non-peaceful manner would face the same consequences.

Deal with the problems of today, and learn from those of the past. Don't hide behind failings of the past and think that it makes it ok for today because in the past others caused problems.

    Deal with the now.

I have no idea whether or not Islam would increase violence etc, but I do agree that more of it is socio economic and when given a chance to succeed and thrive people have more of a reason to live, and thus are less likely to accept the hatred message.

There will always be outliers...Jim Jones, David Koresh etc....but they will be marginalized........

To be fair though, it does seem that Islam has more problems with violence these days, or rather violence in the name of Islam, so something is amiss, and it is not all socio-economic.......

I wonder if they can poll the Muslims in Germany for how violence-prone they are once they spend five minutes discussing hot topics of the day with AroundTheWorld?

It might be interesting to know, using ATW as the control variable

Judging by the reactions of the Muslim posters on the board here, they would be quite violence-prone then! ;)

Would you volunteer for such an experiment, ATW? It would definitely aid your cause. The only downside is you may be martyred for the cause, so a fair warning there

Is this an admission that muslims tend to be more violent than others? Because I know I could discuss similar issues with christians without them getting violent at me.

I have disagreed often enough with Jackie in the past, as he would attest, I'm sure, and would add here that in the States during our history, there have been areas where some of the worst bigots were those who professed to be the most "Christian" and attended church regularly. We still see some of that behavior and it was much worse not terribly long ago, and certainly I remember witnessing it myself. However, what you posted here was absolute crap and as bigoted and ignorant as anything I've ever read in this forum. Because he is German and you disagree with him, then Jackie must, of course, have "nazi tendencies," "be a neo nazi," and then you quit fooling around and simply say "you are a bigoted Nazi."

You, sir, are an ignorant, bigoted fool, who has an extremely poor knowledge of history and has clearly not traveled much, unless it was with your eyes closed. Try opening them sometime, not that it is apt to do much good, in your case. You are everything you think Jackie is. The irony is telling.

I'm not going to say his views are distorted since I have no clue what goes on in Germany, but I'm sure if this study was done here in the US on young Muslims, it would be the complete opposite. From all indications, it seems Islam is preached in a different and more extreme way in Germany and something surely needs to be done about that and the concerns about them are valid.

I seriously, seriously doubt that you would be as obnoxious, hate-filled and just outright racist when you discuss anything with someone in real life, face-to-face. This is very common among Internet hatemongers and keyboard crusaders/jihadists such as yourself.

I bet you are incredibly polite and personable in person, like a teddy bear :p
