The general perspective is Germany likes order and following rules more than us. In the case of Microsoft tech support...not true. So my 3-yr old work laptop died and I fixed the hd, reinstalled Windows, but lost my activation code. I am trying to make it legal again and get a "Replacement Activation Code" for Windows. The Microsoft US tech support required things I don't have here (they are in my Boulder office). So I called the German MS support. They didn't ask for anything, except for my name and company...then just gave me a new activation code. shocking....I say. I f!cking love Germany. Except for the lack of Mexican food.
I really like the German Microsoft Support, always had good experiences and the people seem very nice/dedicated.
oops double post...I seem to still have a problem with my computer....lol Someone delete one of these two threads...bitte.
Have a year Visa renewable online? But it's not entirely up to me. Have to deal with my Condo in Boulder and such. And my boss in Boulder (#1 in command in all of North America) wants to hog me...ie...stay in Boulder. But under this merger, the head dude in Stuttgart wants me too. I just think I'm most valuable to the merged companies to be here with the developers vs the US with the Service and Sales forces. But my dog does not trust germany now because of those NYE fireworks. You understand...what would you do with Dakota, Mr. Digital Anvil.
From the other thread. I had no problem with US tech support when suddenly my laptop was telling me my windows software was not valid. Maybe it has more to do with the individual???
We do have Mexican food, but you know what, we don't have proper Tex-Mex food! I hate that! I really miss the kind of food I ate at Ninfas or Pappasitos in Houston. I think I have to go visit Houston, if only for the food. Actually, I have been waiting for the Rockets to make some noise in the playoffs to have an excuse to go back to Houston.
Tex-Mex, and Mexican food are different Mexican food is delicious, I have to disagree with tex-mex though . Sorry guys
Wish I could edit. Just want to clarify that I wasn't trying to say that you said they were the same. In fact, I read that wrong so disregard
I love Rick Bayless and have all his books. His brother on the otherhand is a tool. Mexican cuisine comprises 7 different types. To say there is one Mexican cuisine is underestimated Mexico. And that is what she said,
btw...just so you know...I have to spread around more reps. got your message though. cool...we can meet when I return. I'd go to Munich this weekend except there is so much to do to get my dog back to the US...and I have a date with a 6'1 German co-worker who my boss explicitly told me I wasn't allowed to hit on. Fick the rules.
My friend I would go with whomever is the biggest fish, if it is the German company absorbing the US arm, I would be in Germany. Be closest to the flame, that is where the heat is...... Plus you aren't married, and Germany is one heck of a place to live, as is Boulder, but you are so close to so many different cultures over there only an hour or so train ride away. Yeah, I would pick Germany. DD
I'm not sure where I asked you for career advice...I thought I asked you for dog advice. you didn't tell me about Dakota...your precious dog who passed away...right? Did you think I forgot your dog's name? My dog won't even leave my apartment now because of the NYE fireworks fiasco. She loves my office here, but won't walk outside now. How much would you move your dog? I hate putting her on a plane. And I do NOT have the dog sitting support network in Germany right now to take advantage of European travel like AroundTheWorld does. WWDDD?
