Although you do hear Obama supporters say that all the time.

As far as for the original subject of the post even I a Clinton supporter think its ridiculous. Hillary Clinton has already said she regrets the statement and personally I think this is one where she should do a little more to distance herself from Ferrerro.

This goes to my point that many Obama supporters look at this as a moral struggle.

She will play it like Bush did the Swift-boaters. Hillary will do "a little more" only if she has to. She likes the issue to be out there because it works to her advantage.

I never said she should step down. I think candidates have a right to pursue the nomination of their party.

But her campaign should not seek to undermine her opponent in ways the hurt her party. But it was obvious that she could not win on her own merits against Obama's merits, so the attacks started, with one that actually claims McCain is stronger than Obama in one of the very critical areas?

    Self serving.

After Obama wins the nomination, this tactic will be revisited and I think spell doom for any future chances Hillary would have had. Just speculating.

This statement is a load of crap! Not saying that it doesnt happen sometimes, but not near as much as you try to make it sound. The other side of this argument is, White people always get on the defensive claiming they are not racist, before anyone even implies that they are.

Unfortunately this is whats going to be the dividing issue. She is doing a dis-serivce to not only Obama, but the whole party. Its gonna fracture the DEM base right done the middle. Alot of folks are already feeling this way. She is pinning white dems and independents against black dems and independents. At the same time its going to energize the old rural republican base. It is stupid and the DNC should step in and crack down on this for the greater good of the party. Just stupid!

totally agree, of course it happens, but it hasn't happened in this campaign. and because it hasn't happen, clinton people are going to throw it out there anyway at least to give the impression that obama's getting a free ride. she already threw that out there in the debate. now its a free ride because he's black. its not going to turn obama voters but it may be an issue for some undecided.

But Ferraro is more than just a supporter. She's working on her campaign. You can't hold a candidate for what every supporter says. You can hold them responsible for who they have working for them.

I think it is a clear cut difference in how the two campaigns are run. If someone in Obama's campaign made statements like that, they would be gone.

With Hillary's campaign she doesn't seem to mind it so much.

Let's look at it. Where do we truly think Obama would be if he were a white man, named something like... i dunno... William Jeffereson Clifton?

With his delegate lead, with his skills, with his consistent stances, he would have all the old-school democratic party leaders demanding Hillary step aside now. Her shrill attacks about inexperience would ring even more falsely, since the added doubts in the backs of white community minds would be gone.

He would already have locked up the nomination, in my humble opinion.

As he said yesterday, the easiest path to the presidency is not to be a man of color named Barack Obama.

The only thing more difficult would to be a woman who looks and acts like Jim Mora Senior.

How so? I'm not an Obama supporter, though I'd rather have him in the White House instead of Hillary.

she didn't even have to make the comment...let's be honest this is the real reason why she isn't getting the black vote!

Did blacks rally behind al sharpton when he ran????No!

It's just such a weird comment to make. Hillary is where she is because she was a woman. If she were a man, she wouldn't have been First Lady, and she wouldn't be getting a 55-45 split in the women's vote which is the only thing keeping her in the race. Our first 40 or so Presidents got where they were because they were white men too. If FDR or Abraham Lincoln had been black or female, would they have gotten elected?

I’m beginning to think it was intentional and part of the design. PA is coming up and this might have been another “Jessie Jackson won SC twice” wink to whites (but especially older white women - Hillary’s strongest supporters) moment. Who better to give the wink than one of their own?

Hence the reason Hillary can’t or won’t refute the statement

as much as obama supporters get accused of accusing hillary of dirty tatics, i've tried to refrain from saying it was intentional. but just looking up at cnn a few minutes ago, they were running something on ferraro sticking by her comments.

I will say this though, with the find that basso made from the 84 election, regardless of whether intentional or not, ferraro obviously feels this way.

Lets not forget that Obama is attacking Clinton now too, actually he's been doing so for quite awhile, recall his "Walmart" remark at the debate before the SC primary. As I've said before this is a race and part of winnign that race is making the argument that you are better than their opponent. I don't begrudge Obama and his campaign challenging Clinton on what she did as First Lady but someone Obama supporter seem to think it is heinous that the Clinton campaign challenge Obama on his experience, or lack of.

Both sides have made heated comments and this is one where I agree went overboard by a campaign supporter but I frankly I think many Obama supporters have a double standard. Its all fine and well to criticize and mock Hillary Clinton but its a moral outrage to challenge Obama.

On this I agree with you. Given the flap over Samantha Powers Ferrero should be removed from the campaign. That said I'm not aware fully of what Ferraro's role is in the campaign, how much is she an employee who can be fired or a fundraiser. Either way tactically Clinton should do more to distance herself.

Exactly right! The big criticism about Obama was that he wasn't even "black" enough to win the African American vote until he proved he was a viable candidate. The thinking here is that African Americans wouldn't "waste" their vote on a candidate that couldn't contend and/or win. He got to where he is today in this election despite his race.
