What a crap argument- much like a lot of the ones you've used so far (i.e. he got hurt from the floor!) You've lost just about every argument in this thread, and I think it's time for you to let it die.

Setting a legal screen someone didn't see is not equivalent to throwing your elbows into a player when he's mid-air.

hey just bumping this for ocball since he ignored it. it's funny how people who don't want to change their minds just ignore a good point or question when it could undermine their argument.

FWIW, I didn't think the foul was that dirty/hard. I watched the videos a few times and just couldn't get a "intentional/dirty" play from the clips alone. I don't doubt that the play was dirty, I'm just saying from the videos it isn't that crystal clear as opposed to "obvious" dirty fouls such as undercutting guys and other WWF-style moves. :).

But honestly if you read the thread before watching the video you think Bynum clotheslined him in mid air.

    This is true, lol.

I say suspend him for a couple of games and be done with it. It wasn't a necessary foul and could have been done a lot differently than what Bynum did (albeit, seemingly not that bad from video).

I'm a Laker hater with the best of them but I watched the game and thought it was just a case of bad luck. Wallace was going up and Bynum was late and his elbow happened to slam into the soft spot under the arm. I thought he may have cracked a rib.. no way I ever thought of a collapsed lung. Hope he gets well soon.

I guess freak injuries happen to other teams too.

But some of you are screaming "Oh busted lungs so he should be suspended!" Look at some posts here, it feels like the suspension should be based on the injury. Ariza will be missing games due to the collision which has caused headaches and nausea. Do you know how dangerous an injury to the head is? So by some of y'alls argument then, shouldn't Howard be suspended for the injury to the head Ariza suffered?

Running into a screen vs getting knocked down by an elbow in midair?

Man, all your arguments are so pale.

If u want to blame anyone for Ariza's accident, it's Ariza's teammates. They should have called out the screen when they see one.

why does that matter all of a sudden? I'm being sarcastic here. many of you here clearly want Bynum gone simply because of the injury he caused so why can't Howard be suspended FOR A HIT TO THE HEAD that caused a head injury?

Bynum is the at-fault party. While the intent is questionable, Bynum did not make a play on the ball. I agree with the call of Flagrant 1.

Players are responsible for keeping track of their elbows. "Incidental" is a cop-out. For example, in hockey, you are responsible for keeping track of your stick (high-sticking) and elbows (up-high); even incidental contact with them is considered a penalty. Even incidental facemasks in football are no more. You are a professional athlete...you should be able to keep track of your body.

Bynum rotated late: yes. Put his hands up for defense: No. Led with his elbow: yes. Dirty? Yes. Malicious? Questionable.

I doubt the league will pass a suspension. If they do, it would most likely be short (1 game).

This situation is just unfortunate for Gerald Wallace...hope he heals up soon.
