Sorry, it was a poor attempt of sarcasm on my part. My point was hard fouls happen and there are gonna be plays where defenders aren't gonna be going for the ball and instead commit hard fouls like Dampier did there. IF Kobe had gone down into the camera crew and didn't get up, they would've probably assessed a flagrant 2 and a suspension would've followed. I believe there is going to be a suspension (undeserved) but its going to be based on the resulting injury, rather than the actual play.

Bynum should get a suspension, that was completely uncalled for and beyond dirty.

I hope Deke makes Bynum his b**** again when we play the Lakers...

it's dirty but if it's what it takes to establish he's the one to be feared in the paint, it's worth it. i bet from now on every player going to driving into bynum has to think about risking injuires.

If Wallace wasn't so reckless this would have never happened -- trying to dunk with an open lane is insane.

If Artest did it, he'd getting drilled into the ground by the media asking for his banishment from the NBA.

If it was Yao, oooo....I don't know what would happened, a select few writers would probably (subtle) praise him for throwing a cheap shot, since they always say why can't he do that more often...but these would be the dumb writers. Next, the other side would criticize him harshily for being over aggressive or clumsily taking out a player.

THen, I would say who cares, most of the mainstream sports writers can go sit on a big fat d!ldo and choke on it.

Hey francis. Everyone else has already realised that OCballfan cannot be reasoned with.
I think we should just leave him alone with his andrew bynum action figures.

He didn't play the ball, just hit Wallace. No excuse for it. Gerald didn't do anything wrong by trying to hide the ball. Bynum could have tried to block the ball once Wallace exposed it nearer the basket. Mutombo would have done that.

^ gets it. Although i have to disagree with the part of injuring players to make your presence felt lol. but yea he's right on about the intimidation factor.

Ah yes typical dumb fan, lost an argument hence attacks the poster.

Except Bynum was in no proper defensive position to get a block. He threw his arms out to make contact. You leave your feet that fast you expect a hard foul if any kind of contact is made.

I am not sure what to comment on the Dampier video -- wrapping a player doesn't mean throwing them down, if he wanted to intentionally foul Wallace he should've got there earlier.

And by saying he wasn't in a position to block the ball, you're admitting he threw his arms out trying to make a play on the player -- which is a flagrant. And that flagrant was dirty. No one is saying Bynum is a bad guy, but that was not a clean hit and he should be reprimanded for it.

And that "presence in the paint" (whoever brought that up) is a load of crap, you don't need to cause serious injuries in order to make your presence felt.

Dampier made zero play on the ball and just body checked Kobe who was on the move, why wasn't he reprimanded according to some of the logic here. In that video Dampier was looking to make a play with the ball clearly out of reach and thats what he did .

Bynum should've gotten to proper position earlier? he didn't and thats why he had to resort to committing the foul. He was at arms length away from Wallace and hence put his arms out, worthy of flagrant 1 maybe but a flagrant 2 of a suspension, absolutely not.

Dave do you think Bynum should've also laid out a red carpet on the lane as well?

I doubt accidently putting your elbow in front of someone will do that kind of damage. There had to be serious force behind it. With that force was intent. There should be a long suspension.

dude what dont u get? The guy was stupid and threw an elbow right into the other guy's ribs. That's really dangerous when one dude is 100 pounds heavier than the other guy. That stuff doesn't even happen in UFC.

Thers no justifying it. Bynum was a bonehead r****d that play. He deserves punishment.

Hmm so should the league suspend Juwan Howard for the blindsided back screen that caused this Ariza concussion then?
