The helping out part would be the taking some of their larger contracts. To my understanding they are losing lots of money and currently have a team that has no chance to win.

Wallace is not a franchise player and doesn't have a chance to develop into one. We need something more than him to make it worth our trouble.

Post of the thread right there.

The problem with trying to get a superstar, and throwing all your decent assets at it is, if they get injured, you've taken 1 step forward and 5 back.

If we can do a trade which improves the team (this would) then I'm all for it.

Brooks+Battier+Pat for Wallace sounds fair, all 3 can start. Jeffries+Rights to Sergio/Trade Exception for Thabeet. Bud+2012 Knicks pick for Randolph.

    Lowry/Smith
    Martin/Lee
    Wallace/T-Will
    Scola/Randolph
    Hill/Miller/Thabeet

they have the 8th worst record. believe me, they will never trade their first round pick to 'sweeten' the deal for other teams to 'take' gerald wallace off their hands. im sure teams would take him without having to ask for their first round pick. heck we'll trade jeffries and whoevers expiring to match then.

and large contracts are rashard lewis, mcgrady (in houston), gilbert arenas type deals. gerald is on a 57mil/6 yr contract. compare that to kevin's 55/5 and scola's 47/5.

franchise player thing, look at jaxwithanx's post.

If Charlotte, Memphis and the Knicks are in; than we should be, too.

T-Will / C-Lee can help at the point - if needed...
    A-Randolph can play so smallforward...
Wallace will cover up Martin's lack of D...
Thabeet may become a beast in time...
Thabeet, Hill and Randolph on the floor at the same time..
We would still have C-Hayes, too...

Just think / dreaming with you...

Did you even read my post?

The large contracts I'm talking about are the contracts of, for example, Diop (full MLE), Diaw (9M+), Jackson (9M+), Tyrus Thomas (7M+) etc.

As I said, they are bleeding money, and therefore might be willing to get rid of excess salary. And because most of the teams probably wouldn't touch those contracts with a ten foot pole, they would need to really add something of value. I'm not really expecting to get that pick and Wallace for just Brooks and Jeffries, i was just throwing the idea out there as a start for the discussion.

Due to the Bobcat's urgent need at the 1 it is almost 100% that they would be asking for either Aaron Brooks or Lowry in return for Gerald Wallace.

With this trade it is a matter of either keeping your 1,2 punch at point guard or go for the SF upgrade but in return losing the point guard combo.

That and also take on their pick to dump more salary. Kinda like what we did with Gay and Swift for Battier. We could take on Thomas and their pick along with Wallace, but lose something in return.

I wonder If Morey could get a 4 team trade moving with

    Hou, Denv, Char and NJ.

We get Wallace and Nene so how?

That would be quite the upgrade defensively, say we pull it off only giving up players among Brooks, Hill, Battier, Jeffries, plus draft picks and exceptions to absorb contracts. It'd be nice to keep Hill for the athleticism but that's the price you pay to upgrade.

    Lowry/Smith/Lee
    Martin/Lee
    Wallace/Budinger/Williams
    Scola/Hayes/Patterson
    Nene/Miller

Exactly. In my mind, despite Shane's recent resurgence the position that needs the most urgent upgrade (T Will may be this guy in a couple of years) is SF and since we have 2 starting caliber points, losing one to get not only a starting caliber SF, but a legit top 5-10 SF in the league seems like a no brainer. I think Lowry has proven he can handle starting duties adequately and with Brooks potentially contentious contract situation looming, I would rather make him someone else's problem.

    AMEN !!!

I've been speaking this LOGIC for weeks now, but many dont think that this COULD happen or that it would IMPROVE the Rockets.

Wallace + Randolph + Thabeet will make this team young and talented.

The only thing that I would like more would be for us to get in on the Melo deal by landing Nene + JR Smith (they will try and dump both). I would still go get Randolph after that.

Should the Rox be interested in Marcus Camby or Gerald Wallace?

Hoopshype reports Bobcats looking to trade Wallace,Diop, and Augustin for Camby, and Miller.Should the Rockets try to get in on this?
