Who said we can only get superstars? now this turned into the superstars only club for the people against Wallace? I guess you hate moreys small move for Terrence Williams then?
What is this rebuilding crap? Re-building means you give up veterans for young players with potential, or shedding salary. We have BEEN accumulating talented youngsters. And, the only high salaries we have, aside from expirings, are Martin, Scola, and Lowry, who are arguably not overpaid, anyhow.

Several posters believe exactly that. Makes no sense to me; DM has been planning for this day for years. I am sure he thought this might happen when he passed on Dampier. At C, we have Miller, Hayes, Hill. Hill will be pretty good by playoffs-time. Charlotte's team salary is $65 million. Losing those two players saves over $18 million. They might very well want salary cap relief, plus young players. Jeffries and PPatt would get you close. I'd rather give up Bud than PPatt but I don't think Bud is high on anybody's list, though Charlotte could decline to extend his contract. Why would we want Wallace, when we just got T-Will? The same reason that Jordan Hill doesn't start. He's still a lot of potential.
decent scorer, great rebounder, magnificent defender, probably the 4th best sf in the nba (has a history of handing carmelo his ass) and probably underpaid by a cpl m for what he's worth.
Perfect way to make sure the team stinks for many years to come, and doesn't win a championship for a very long time. People are looking at the draft through rose-colored glasses. Do you really think with a high pick the team would get anyone as good as Gerald Wallace through the draft? Sure, there's a chance. Is it likely? Nope.
I'm sure you have seen him a lot more than me. I've only seen him in limited minutes, leaving his man and going for the blocked shot. Please tell me about his defensive strengths, and his mid-range shot percentage.
Exactly! The Rockets look like a team that began rebuilding a while back and have built up to this point. The team has assets that a rebuilding team would be trying to acquire. Starting over would be like a dog chasing its tail -- a lot of activity and wasted energy, going nowhere. These people who keep this "tank, rebuild" mantra going just stubbornly refuse to look at the reality and complexity of the situation. We are, in effect, a large part of the way through "rebuilding" and a few smart moves, and some luck with players panning out, away from contending. That's not such a bad position to be in.
the bobcats are down 25+ points in the 3rd quarter to the WIZARDS without rashard lewis. larry brown looks like he'd get rid of his players for a kleenex. gerald wallace out for his 3rd straight game though. ankle sprain. prime victim for morey to rape?
he's a good man to man defender (similar to lebron, or anyone guarding battier lol in that being more athletic than your opponent allows you to cover people), but his help defense benefits from his amazing athleticism, the going for shot blocks, well there's probably no one better for blind side help defense than wallace as his leaping ability allows him to get up and onto the ball without a foul, that's one reason i'd like him for this team, his help defense would certainly go a long way to covering for martin's deficiencies. He's also nursing an injury this year (think tony parker/kevin martin last year) his jumper is decent, bit inconsistent though, but he's no bunny, if he was getting open corner 3's like battier, he would shoot pretty similar numbers, but he would probably slash to the hole half the time (basically imagine what ariza tried to do last year, but he can finish it). The games I've watched of theirs (i watch a bunch of teams maybe a dozen a year), it's noticable without felton, he's taking a hell of a lot of contested shots and still shooting similar %'s to Carmelo. He's not a "take you to the stars", no max contract player, but at $10m, he'd be about right on a next year 15m max lower salary rules cba, under this year's rules, he's probably worth about 12, when fit he's an 18/8 all defensive first team player. His career stats are like 48% fg, 32% 3p player and its a little improved over what it was in his early years, 48/35 is about right for him.
it's the thing ewith wallace, he covers up so many defensive deficiencies, without him, they leak worse than a lineup of brooks, martin, bud, scola and miller...
Wallace is an upgrade on this team. Period. If there is no trade out there for superstar....there is no trade out there for a superstar. You don't just stop trying to get better because you can't do it as fast as you want. I genuinely believe some people on this board are actually mentally r****ded. Every member should be given a basic logic test before being allowed to post....you can still join and post if you score low, but all posts come with an automatic sig specifying your handicap in rational thinking. I mean I understand having vastly different opinions, the it is the complete lack of logic that blows my mind. I want a superstar now too. But Carmelo isn't coming here and I haven't heard of any other available ones. Amazingly enough guys, just because you want something really really bad in life....it doesn't just make it so.... Wallace on this team for the right price would be great. He would do nothing but make this team better, period.
Wallace fits the mold Morey is looking for, defensive oriented/two way players. It won't cost a kings ransom and it would be a HUGE offensive upgrade while not losing much at all on the defensive end...maybe even improving there too.
charlotte with another loss tonight. i just hope gerald wallace doesnt get moved for cheap to another team and we're kicking ourselves for not offering.
Budinger+Jeffries+Brooks+ 3 Million cash +Clippers 2nd round pick for Wallace and Nazr Mohammed. Nazr/Miller/Hayes Scola/Hill/Patterson Wallace/Battier/ Martin/Williams/Lee Lowry/Lee/Smith
We have T-Williams. No need Wallace. I packaged Brooks, Budinger, Patterson and a second rounder for Cousins.
Even after the choke job he pulled for Sac tonight? I mean, our coaching staff seems to be pretty good at developing players(according to Morey), but they're not that good.
I don't view Wallace as optimal player for us (age, ability, contract etc.). However, as I semi-humorously proposed in another Bobcats thread, I would be willing to take him if we got their 1st round pick this (or next) year in the deal. How desperate are the Bobcats exactly? Can they be persuaded to giving us Wallace and the 1st if we took on enough salary? What would it take? Brooks + Jeffries + more fillers (+pick/picks) for Wallace + Diaw/Diop/Jackson/Thomas + 1st ?
jeez theres absolutely no way charlotte is losing gerald wallace AND their first round pick. thats just embarassing if you think thats a serious trade proposal. please think that trades should work to help out both sides, its not like a rape. im eager to see terrence william play too, but gerald wallace is a freaking beast. he looks like a freaking shark. and hed be the right age to play with kevin and luis. our pgs are right abt the age where theyre coming into their own. the team is too good and they work too hard for us to disregard their effort and just tank. how good was the game against GS warriors the other day
