Actually, I was kidding about the D-league. Green will be serviceable. He's got a long way to go and he's still learning. Too young out of high school. But the NBA only goes after high school kids if they have a lot of potential.
done is done. lets move on, 10 in a role!! http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/news/wolves_trade_green_to_rockets_080221.html
Good point... This guy will work his tail off to prove he belongs on the team he grew up wanting to be on - The Rockets. It's on his arm - we'll see if his mind and heart can keep up and develop his talent. At the end of the season, he can weight whether he wants to be in his hometown professionally or not.
For anyone that has seen him play how is his defense? That's crucial.... I know he can boom in the dunk contests (i.e. uncontested) but does he attack the basket and finish strong in actual games...with people in the lane? If so then I am proud of Morey for finding two athletes (also counting Landry). Because of Yao & T-Mac Landry gets a lot of those open looks and it's amazing how having a player who can finish strong as opposed to missing lay-ups (i.e. Hayes) can help your team. It looks like he can shoot the 3-ball, so that will definitely make it easier to fit in on this team. Either stand outside and shoot or cut to the rim and let one of the stars find you. Snyder had some success here hustling and cutting to the lane, but he couldn't shoot worth crap. It seems like Green's regular fg% is garbage for some reason this year...but if he can hit a 3 consistently then that will help. I am hoping he can get serious after this move. Honestly, if you are a 6-8 athletic guard and you can't get serious about playing at home and learning under Adelman, T-Mac and Battier.....then there is just no hope for you. What better situation could a young wing have to learn...besides sit behind Kobe....
Green may be dumb, but BB isn't rocket science. I think he will be so motivated to play in Houston that you will see a lot of improvement. When I used to watch him in HS I always thought that he played like a good TMac, what great athletic ability. As far as Bonzi goes, (he was gone at the end of the year anyway) all I see is more playing time for Landry and the little playing time that Jackson gets is time that he can be jacking three's instead of Bonzi. Landry young and raw has been bringing a lot more to the table as of late than Bonzi was.
He provides us with some explosiveness and actually has some semblance of a jumper, unlike Snyder. The one thing that I believe is different than Minnesota and Boston is that he LOVES Houston. "I feel like I'm on cloud nine." Now our roster looks like: C- Yao/Hayes/Mutombo PF- Scola/Landry/Novak SF- Battier/Green/Haluska* SG- McGrady/Head/Francis PG- Alston/Jackson/Brooks *-Maybe we can waive him to pick up a veteran (Barry, Cassell, etc.) Bonzi will surely be missed, but now our team consists of more scorers and athleticism. How far we go in the playoffs is dependent on the play of our role players, which now include Jackson and Green. Hopefully these players will embrace the opportunity here in Houston and step up.
No ron artest and no mike miller make spysta.....something something.. Go Crazy? DONT MIND IF I DO!!!!!!
Stro's favorite team was the Rockets but he failed, let's hope the kid can do better despite the red flags about him.
The on thing that really bothers me and is a clear indication of work ethic, talent, or whatever, is the fact that on a team like the Timberwolves that is clearly going no where and sucks beyond belief and R. Foye has been injured the whole season.....He still couldn't break in the rotation or get meaningful minutes. You figure they would at least try him out and see if he could do anything.
McCants showed big at UNC,had mad workouts, stepped up his game in Minny, and voila...GG is coming home.
Red flags about work ethic Human dunk highlight reel Huge upside Yeah, it does remind me a lot of Stromile, only Green didn't take much to aquire, and we're paying him very little. In other words, I love this pick-up. Low risk, High reward.
