Before the trades, we were strong at the wing depth and weak at the point guard depth. Now both those positions have good depth. Good move by Morey. Green, Jackson > Wells, James, Snyder
Minor no impact trade. This kid is years away to learn the game. But Green is a young player that can package with expiry contracts for a trade.
its probably been mentioned but i dont feel like reading 20 pages of responses but wasnt Morey at Boston when they drafted Green? If all Green does is stand outside and shoot 35% 3's and willingly play defense against bigger guards, Snyder upgrade.
Good point. If Green were coming out of college in this upcoming draft, I wonder where he would be drafted. I kinda look at Green as getting a seasoned draft pick with incredibly sick athletism. The kid can actually shoot the ball. With Green, Landry and Brooks, it's really pointing towards a uptempo movement in the near future with the rockets.
so the rockets pick up bobby jackson, gerald green, adam haluska (wtf?! lmao) and international playa sergei lishouk from ukraine . . hmmm i'm still hopin we could somehow pick up brent barry . . then with this oh so called from oh so many people a weak back up of players, I think the rockets will have a great amount of success, ESPECIALLY WITH GREEN. I wonder if the miller trade will get done, even tho it's past the deadline.
Great deal. Snyder wasn't going to play anyways and even if Green doesn't get in Adelman's rotation, we aren't going to lose anything. We have nothing to lose here and everything to gain.
Consider Green as an insurance policy for Tmac. If, God forbid, Tmac sustains some kind of injury, then you you have an athletic 6'8' guy on the bench or in the D-league you can bring in to play. Everybody hates paying for insurance until you need it.
I was a bit disappointed with the Bobby Jackson trade, but I guess now that Mike James and Bonzi are, it was basically meant to allow Gerald some playing time. I'm looking forward to seeing him play, he has a lot of potential and upside. PLus, he can learn a lot from T-Mac.
I don't believe you can send Gerald to the "D" league, isn't he a 3rd year player? I thought only players in their first 2 sessons can be sent down. DD
think it is pretty neat to see him shoot with that missing finger on his shooting hand talking about learning how to deal with something and making this best out of it. I think he will be alright in the end everyone because when he got time in boston he did ok let's give him a chance
We picked up Gerald Green for one reason only.. So he can finish our opponents with this: <object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xwhmb6zlAcU&rel=1"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xwhmb6zlAcU&rel=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
Low IQ and high athletic ability doesn't help but what bothers me the most about Green was his demand to be traded instead of trying to work hard to make it to the roster.
Are trades officially over or is there any chance that we did something else before the deadline that hasn't been announced yet?
Unless trade exceptions can be used within MINUTES of being generated, I believe that the Gerald Green trade was actually an EXTENSION of the Bobby Jackson trade. All in all, the trade ends up looking like this: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...0~10~10~10~29~3~3~29&te=2445:16-70&cash=29:10
it's all done. Green is not news worthy, we just did this trade to rid ourselves of synder. Green won't be a rocket next year. Nor will Bobby Jackson make it much past the 2009 all-star game. The only plus side of today's activities is that we're in better position to get someone this off-season who may help us.
