he looked kinda like Tmac when he was jz drafted into Raptors, tmac has a awful second year as i remembered, but he got better soon
Well, I can shut down the Trade Deadline Random Trade thread. I got my wish (opening post). Now let's see how he does. He probably will not make a deep impact this year, but I believe he will show signs of becoming the starting SG, SF or Sixth Man in the Adelman system next year.
If Green turns out to be nothing, no one cares or remembers. If Green turns out to be ANYTHING, then GM end up to be genius. Brilliant.
This move was completely pointless (for this season, at least). Green is essentially a glorified Snyder, which isn't saying much. We're in the middle of hungry Western teams and Green won't even get playing time, even though he fills in the position that Bonzi had. So now we're just left with a hole @ the 2/3 off the bench, and can't develop Brooks as much with the addition of Bjax. Terrible trades.
we did not throw in the towel. morey acquired an asset which will be beneficial next season. i think the green trade makes up for it a little bit. im glad morey is thinking about the future
Excellent Move by the Rockets Organization and to all you haters out there might as well hop on the bandwaggon right now cause Gerald Green is gonna prove you haters wrong.
I honestly think that him moving to a team he wants to play for will actually make him work harder on his game....
To be fair, Gerald Green should not be judged merely by statistics. Guys that need motivation to hit their peak are always a high risk high reward. However the Celtics do have a lot of G/F. McCants, Foye, and sometimes Jaric play 2 and Gomes (who is playing well for them), Brewer manning the 3. Now put Green in a winning situation, where he will get tutoring from Tmac, and get minutes because the Rocks no lack depth with the Bonzi trade...well good things can happen. Take last years stats- 22 minutes sharing the rock with Pierce- 10.4 ppg on 42% fg 37% 3pt Tmac 2nd year sharing the rock with Carter 22 minutes 9.4 ppg on 43% fg 23 % 3pt. Tmac had a better overall game but Green is a scorer with length, that's what the Rockets need to groom into a sparkplug off the bench. While Green is shooting poorly this year, his 3pt is at 38 % shooting 1.5 a game Brooks is shooting 3pt at 29% shooting 2.3 a game. Green could be a more athletic Novak, shoots the open 3's while not being so bad on defense. On a bad defensive team like the T-pups, bad individual defense stands out. On the Rockets, this weakness is mitigated some, allowing players like Novak and hopefully Green to play. I think a combination of being excited about basketball again and being the hometown hero can rejuvenate Green's desire. Check out Bonzi last year and this year...half a season does not an Nba player make. Especially one that is so young with so much upside. Oh and while is motivation issue is well documented here, let's look at his draft scouting reports for some positives- NBA Comparison: Tracy McGrady Everything this kid does is silky smooth, even hard drives to the lane capped with the empahatic dunk seem easy... Has supreme athleticism, and gets many points off ally oop dunks as well as on drives to the hole... Has a very quick, effortless release on his jump shot. Combine that with great elevation and you have an almost unblockable shot... Most of the shots go in, in fact his jump shot from midrange to outside is one of his defining qualities... Loves to spot up for the open three, or stop and pop for the 15 footer... Overall just a sick scorer from outside ... Even At 6'8 he handles the ball like a guard, often starting (and finishing) the fast break... Loves to run the floor for the ally oop dunk, but also knows when to pass the ball... Most of those passes get right where they need to be ... However, those fast breaks don't just start themselves, Gerald is often the one creating the turnovers... His long arms and tremendous athleticism lead to lots of blocked shots and steals. Often creating the turnover, starting the break, and finishing with a monster dunk... Also rebounds exceptionally well for a guard/forward his size... The total package, an all around player who will do whatever it takes to win. There aren't many with his gifts at his size... With time and effort this kid will be something special. Here's hoping -V
I can see how this trade is considered "bad." I am not a huge Gerald Green fan, but the guy is young and athletic. We basically used our 2nd round draft pick on Green. Do you really think we could of gotten someone better with our 2nd round draft pick?
Im excited about hte trade. Im used to a lot of these so called Houston fans being pessimistic about the team. I take their comments with a grain of salt. I think he could become a decent player in a few years.
No his skillset is Manu lite but plays more like Battier lite He's not dunking as much anymore so he's no longer looking like a thunder dan lite
OMG, some of you guys are so dramatic. The only thing that affected the team this year was losing Bonzi and picking up BJ. It remains to be seen whether that was a good deal or not.
just to remind the people who do not like the acquisition of gerald green or let alone do not know him, he is a very dominant dunker who I think will be Yao's best friend when he gets double teamed . . he is and will be our most athletic player on the court no doubt! and as unexpected as this trade was, we should be thankful that gerald > snyder. IT'S GERALD GREEN TIME!
You have to think about this way, if we combined synder's expiring contract with well's, plus mike james' bad contract, can we get something better than a GG and a BJ (sorry).
