Not if we trade away more players than we get back...and Luther can be like a freebie throwin anyways right... the other team will be like..."Morey you've got to add something to sweeten the deal." so Morey can be like..."here have Luther...".."deal done"
He wasn't exactly gonna get us over the hump this year anyways. So i don't mind Dallas training him for 1 year and then if he pans out we snatch him on the open market. Dallas has had pretty good luck developing guys who had much less potential than Green. No real loss other than another bench player for this season. If he does turn out to be a diamond in, i don't think it was gonna happen overnight after we signed him. So let Dallas do the work this year while hopefully we can reap the benifits if he succeeds.
obviously Woods showed more than Green because as of now hes still on the roster. Obviously Adelaman and the scouts didnt think Green was worth keeping around earlier in the year when he was on our roster and they cut him. And dont tell me Adelman had no say in whether we cut and or resigned him.
What has Green done that makes you think he'll thrive there!? And if he's starting for Dallas then Dallas is in a LOT of trouble.
I think a player like Green gets a big advantage playing with Jason Kidd. They have said they are going to run run run this year, and one thing Green is VERY good at is finishing.... I think he will get some good minutes up there......just my .02. DD
Anyways, we should think of this this way: he'll never contribute next year, and by the time he MAY start contributing, Yao and McGrady would be past their prime anyways...or it may be never. so this signing doesn't really affect us at all in the end. lol dont know why I was concerned about it...
Noo!! There goes our scrub and slam dunk contest participant. Oh well, maybe we'll get another rookie in our team that could win us a slam dunk contest trophy.
I told my Mavs fan GF the news and she made a farting noise with her face. I felt bad having built him up last March when we got him. Apparently he isn't all that and a gallon of gasoline.
I'm with you on this one. Dallas traded 1/2 their roster away for Kidd, so they're gonna have to at least try and get Green some playing time with a lack of quality players. Not to mention he should get plenty of good coaching with the other young players there. As i said before, Dallas has been able to pull a couple diamonds out of the rough who have been lass talented. So if they can possibly develop Green into good player, hopefully he comes home and we can reap the benefits.
Ouch...it hurts. I tought he could be a good backup sg for us, he is a good player who can finish and attack the basket (we need it). And whet is worse - he is now in Dallas...
Josh Howard: " Yo Gerald! Not like that! This is how you roll a proper blunt." Gerald Green: "Yo Dawg, thats what I've been doin wrong the past three years." Josh Howard: "Now hold it in Dawg don't wast it! Now you are a real all star!" Later in the day.... Mark Cuban: "Josh how is my man Gerald coming along? You know this old ass team needs all the youth and athleticism it can get after my dumb ass moves have robbed us of almost all talent and youth." Josh Howard: "I taught him everything he needs to know!"
Who is going to make Jason Kidd look good. He is old and lost a lot of steps. Jason Kidd = way, way over the hill.
The worst of it is that Dallas wins either way, just as the Rockets would have. If Gerald Green turns out to be a bust, Dallas loses $1M, maybe $2M. If he blossoms, they have the steal of the season. There is little risk but the possibility of high reward. This is another reason (I have to bite my lip for admitting this) that Mark Cuban and his staff are superior collective basketball minds than Les Alexander and his staff.
