wow the spin move was made on #32 Daniel Ewing who is a pretty good defender, although i have absolutely no clue who he dunked on, it wasnt Chris Kaman. I just feel sorry for whoever got dunked on.
Dang dude, enjoy the clip and lay off the racism debate. Do that crap in the D&D. Gerald Green POSTERIZED some look-a-like Matt Fish from the Clippers.
I expected him to say that black guy(?) POSTERIZED some poor white sap, Plus The Rockets suck for not trying to get Green.
I think the guy made a good point. And it wasn't really anything that's 'debatable'. The unfortunate reality is that we are supremely inconsistent in calling people out for things like this. Like someone pointed out earlier in the thread, last week a poster gets lambasted for identifying a child who acted out towards him as 'black', yet it's acceptable for us to use derogatory terms like 'white sap'. How laced with hypocracy is that? How can we intellectually justify such diametrically-opposed positions? Bottom line: We need to impose the same rules on everybody. If we think it's overblown and society is too sensitive, then let's not freak when someone references a minority when making a point. Conversely, if we feel it's within our values and mores to utilize social filters and bring a certain sensitivity to the table, then lets be sensitive about everyone. Across the board. It'll be interesting if I see you post something similar next time the principals in the situation are reversed. If you do, at least you're intellectually consistent and I respect that. Many people aren't, however.
Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I definitely didn't bash the previous poster for mentioning the woman was black in his post. It seemed to just be innocent information he didn't realize was controversial. The problem with your 'bottom line' is that some people aren't offended while others are. How can we always react the same way 'across the board'? We are all different (check out D&D). I don't see how we can solve this problem, but your point is well taken. To sum up, I'm saying you define the problem well, but you didn't bring up a solution to the problem.
I lost enthusiasm for the clip from the Thread's title, dude. It's tough to enjoy the dessert when the presentation is so ugly.
That's the conundrum. The solution is much murkier than simply defining the problem, and you touched on that in your post. And I didn't mean to insinuate you were one of the posters I was referring to regarding the other thread. The fallacy is that those same posters lambasting the thread-starter last week are conspicuously silent when race is not only mentioned here, but mentioned in a derisive way. It just reeks of hypocracy and is tremendously uncogent to come down hard in one instance and not the other.
See here is what I think, Rockets were tryin to trade up to get Green in the sense that they thought he was going to be top 10 at worst. No one had even come close to predicting he would dorp to the the 18th pick. So I am guessing rockets tried in vain to get to the top 10 picks but couldnt. And when Green fell to 18, they were probably like oh man we messed up again.
