This is ridiculous.. The NBA has gotten soft. If you embarrass someone you have the right to taunt em, its all about getting into their heads. They're professionals they shouldnt let this get to them.

As a fan I love to see emotions fly. The NBA has stopped so much of this that it's lost it's competitiveness. Like Barkley said, in the court they hated each other. Nowadays they tap each other in the butt to opposing players. All sorts of sorcery.

Or soccer celebrations after a goal is scored. It does depend on the sport.

In baseball no one likes the preening "hot dog" guy that stares at his home runs, running slow around the bases to absorb n the moment. In baseball if you do a celebratory move to rub it in, you're getting a 95 MPH ball tossed at your head next time up.

NFL and NBA is a different culture, especially the testosterone fueled NFL.

Should it be ALLOWED? Not TOO much I don't think for SPORTSMANSHIP reasons. Though I myself don't mind seeing it on TV for entertainment value

Its more about if its DIRECTLY AT the opponent, thats what factors in.

If its a celebrating with the teammates thing or at the crowd or camera, its less severe, its more "in the spirit" of the play.

If they're directing it RIGHT AT the opponent to show they got owned, like Gerald Green did there, thats where its a taunt by definition.

The Blake Griffin blank stare and stand (The "Blank Griffin" [lame] ) that he does after 95% of his dunks. Whether it should be called a tech or not, its still just annoying.

Will give Griffin and Wade for being crafty with it if thats their intention. Wade and Griffin kinda subtley just give a moment's pause within 1.2 seconds to embellish things, then resume on about their business

The league has been pretty clear about it. Celebrations yes, taunting no.

Like I said, it's a professional league. Go watch an AND1 mix if you resent players being asked to conduct themselves professionally.

What part of that is a tech? The hanging part? Players have the right to hang on the rim if it's not safe for them to come down. Mcgee just happened to be in the wrong place.

Man, so you didn't watch basketball back in the day? they stared each other down after dunks and taunted. That is what makes the game fun, street ball or not. Its should be allowed from time to time, especially when somebody dunks on you like that.

Lol, agree. Ergo, hard to tell if it's a taunt or not. :p

I'll love NBA basketball till the day I day but I long for the days when such things as this were still allowed:

That staring down after the dunk is just part of the game. I really wish the refs would stop giving out technical fouls for that. When a player makes a spectacular dunk on someone and stare them down, it really pumps up the game and get a lot of players fired up but when the refs blow the whistle for a Technical, it really takes the air out of the intensity.

Plus the staring down part after the dunk really brings out the competition on both ends. Players in the 90s really challenged each other and by them trash talking to each other, it makes the game more interesting and more intense. But now, every thing is so black and white. You can't really say any negative things toward the opponents or look at them funny without getting a T.

Good... T him up. I can't stand it when people stare someone down.

You made a nice play, well done. If you want to get pumped up and excited about it on your way back to play defense, more power to you. If you want to stand there and stare at the guy you just dunked on for no reason at all, you're an idiot.

Remember when Parsons did it to Griffin last year?
