Georgia State vs Houston

Against a real powerhouse football program that has history going back all the way to 2010. Definitely merit its own thread.

 

Yeah, this is gonna be a practice game. I hope our offense can use this game to start gelling again. They've had really shaky starts in the last couple of games. Sometimes it's nice to run stuff on a less skilled opponent to regain that confidence.

 

Am I correct that wins over these schools don't count with regard to bowl qualification....Not that I expect it to be a problem this year....but aren't there some I-A patsies we could schedule instead.

 

Why did UH schedule this crap game?

supposedly Navy cancelled on the coogs, this was last minute.

 

Thats what I say every time I see Rice on the schedule.

 

I hope some of the teams near the bottom of the Top25 lose and fall out

 

That would be awesome, but I'm afraid beating Georgia State isn't exactly going to catapult us into the top 25

 

Yeah it isn't, but maybe if other teams fall out we'll get bumped up. Last year we moved into the top25 (for that one week) after wins only against Texas St. and UTEP just cause other teams lost and fell out.

 

Considering Rice has won the game 2 out of the past 3 years, I have to scoff

 

You can count one win over a 1-AA (FCS) game towards bowl eligibility but not two. I don't know UH's schedule but assuming this is the only FCS team they are playing then it would count.

 

Considering Rice used players with documented criminal backgrounds, I have already affixed a mental asterisk to those results.

And please keep your thugs from destroying school property while they are on our side of town. I'd hate to see Robertson turned into some sort of grounds for illicit drug and weapon deals, and other gang-related activities.

I have two tickets to tonight's game but my brother and friend have backed out with other obligations. I'm not even sure if it is worth the gas money. I am considering giving away one or maybe both tickets.
