George Will may be Intelligent but its the same Rhetoric

indeed, it's difficult to believe a major columnist could write anything so inflamatory so soon after a national tragedy.

 

George Will nailed it. So true about the liberals' chubby for becoming a modern European state, and the people's resounding smack-down of that idea during the November election.

Meanwhile, liberals shake their head in disbelief that anybody can "be so stupid" as to take a different viewpoint than comrade Pelosi...

 

Typical liberal response -- try to make fun of the author and to try to invoke humor to dodge discussion.

I didn't find the Will piece overly inflammatory, or out of place given the Arizona shootings.

But I did find it dumb.

 

so it should presumably be easy to refute?

Take the conclusion for a moment:
"Two years into Barack Obama's presidency, we now know what he meant about "hope" and "change" - he and other progressives hope to change our national character."

That is a baseless, highly opinionated partisan declaration. Policy by policy, many historians find him to be somewhere between Ford and Nixon, policy wise. To the right of moderate.

Taxes? He's cut them.
War? He appears to love it.
Secrecy? He's all about it.

Oh, but he tried to implement Bob Dole's health plan! What a communist!

I expect better from George Will. Obama has flaws. Being "too liberal" is not a sensible criticism, but it is exactly what you'd expect from the same old conservative talking heads, who will say the same thing about any "democrat" in the whitehouse.

 

Liberals hate America, socialism sucks and capitalism rules, the Constitution gets me hot, token old quote from a founding father, everyone who doesn't believe they'll become a millionaire is a welfare bum... this all sounds pretty familiar.
