i'll respect the office when someone respectable's in it. for a guy who's committed war crimes by any unbiased definition and trampled on the constitution, naming a sewage plant after him isn't even close to just desserts.
As I understand it, the plant is state-of-the-art and an example for large modern sewage treatment. In other words, it makes clean water out of crap... but Bush has spent the last 8 years crapping in our drinking water. Therefore, I'm opposed to this honor because it's too good for him. I would, however, favor the renaming of the Centralia, PA Coal Seam Fire to the President Bush Coal Seam Fire. After all, the actions of this administration will burn us for decades.
Actually about a month ago I was walking down Columbus here in SF and some dude asked me to sign the petition. I got a good laugh and gladly signed it in hopes that it would make the ballot.
Do they mean sewage treatment plant? Because a sewage plant sounds like a place that manufactures sewage. And I do that four times a day. I'm a sewage plant.
Sounds good to me... the man has spent the last 8 years tryign to clean up the mess left behind by the previous administration and turn it into something good.
I can't agree with the arguement that this sets a bad precedent. Given that Bush was easily the worst president ever and this should only be the beginning. After history assigns his rightful place at the bottom of the of the list, people will come out of their daze and this kind of treatment is rightfully deserved. After all this is America the land of free speech, better to live under some dictator where this kind of action would lead the police to remove you in the middle of the night?
Too much. I don't care how bad a president you believe he is (and I'm not his biggest fan by any means) this is a terrible idea. Even if you feel he's disrespected the office, you should respect it and the country enough to let history judge. Petty name calling gets us nowhere.
