Trout Myers Price (who actually made his debut, excelled, and then started the next season in the minors) And those were guys that teams with playoff teams really needed, but avoided, and we've seen what kind of spender the Angels are.
Yup, I texted in about that and got my text read on the air. I have a 30 minute commute to work and didnt realize the news about Springer until I got to work and got on Clutchfans.
Happy the day is finally here. He better be in the starting lineup considering he is on fire. ....And by on fire, I mean hitting better than the Mendoza line.
The fact that none of the radio talks much about the Astros or Rockets is solely because most of the city can not watch the games therefore most of the city can not speak intelligently on either subject and has no background to relate to the host regarding either subject. The NBA playoffs are starting and I have no real sense of fandom for the Rockets at this point. I haven't been able to watch them in two years, the two most crucial years in the construction of the team. I'll root on Houston sure but it's not like before where I knew that if Dream caught the ball in a certain place or kicked it out to Kenny in at the top of the key, the shot was money. The dirty side of sports have robbed me of two years of fandom, if and when they ever get back on TV I'm sure it will return but today, it is not the same today. The Rockets and Astros are to blame, they made their beds and now they have to lie in the them.
They sold out every game they played this season. One of 8 teams this season to do that. http://espn.go.com/nba/attendance
Because you can have greater than 100% attendance. Of course, we certainly didn't sellout 35 of 44, because we only have 41 home games. Per NBA.com, we sold out our 38th game against NO earlier this year (our 39th home game). So we have between 38-40 sellouts.
To me, all of this is interesting based on how folks grow up. I grew up in the days when a Houston team was rarely on TV. I looked forward to Sunday afternoons, because that was the best chance of having the Astros on TV. Rockets' playoff games were tape delayed and good luck trying to see a regular season game on TV. Somehow, through all of that, I (and tens of thousands of other people) managed to be fans of the Houston sports teams. We spent our time listening to the games and picturing where Otto Moore caught that ball and kicked it off to Calvin Murphy. I guess it's just a generation thing to not be able to be a fan if you can't watch a game on TV.
Got it. I did the leg work....they sold out every home game in the regular season except for 2 (so 39 sellouts): v. Orlando on 12/8; and v. Sacramento on 1/22. 18,023 is the stated seating capacity of Toyota Center...they sold at or in excess of that in 39 of their 41 regular season games.
He has not looked good. When the bright side is that he was 0-4 today, but made contact all 4 times, that says a lot. Granted it is still early in his career.
He hasn't really been able to drive the ball yet, hasn't looked good. The K's were expected. Lance Berkman had a .603 OPS over his first 76 PA, so no need to panic yet.
He's pull-happy, pitchers have him figured out, he has to adjust, then they'll adjust, then he has to adjust some more
I was looking at Springer's splits, just to see if anything stuck out. Day: .148/ .207/ .296 Night: .260/.329/.377 Night and Day indeed
