Even the Red Army's choir ensemble died: http://news.sky.com/story/russian-j...ous-military-band-crashes-near-sochi-10707413 A tough year for musicians
Wow, top notch talent. I remember listening to One More Try on the radio as a youngster, I've always liked his talent. He can make a song work with just his voice.. most singers can't. RIP George.. great career. God Bless his family.
"Last Christmas" is my favorite Christmas song, too. I sang it to my gf when we first started dating...
because he was such a "pop" star i think his talent as a singer/songwriter/musician/producer gets overlooked. he was only 24 when he put out faith wrote every song on the record except one, which he co-wrote with someone else produced the album played most of the instruments on the album - guitars, keys, bass, drums grammy winner for album of the year 25 million sold 6 of the 9 tracks were top 5 singles 12 weeks at billboard #1 and 51 weeks in the top 10 that was a one-in-a-million record that was as successful as anything anyone else has ever done. pretty impressive.
George Michael was also the first Carpool Karaoke guest: https://www.google.com/amp/ktla.com...-corden/amp/?client=ms-android-hms-tmobile-us
I wasn't a fan and never liked his music but sorry to see him die. 53 isnt' that far for me and my dad had a heart attack at 54 so things like this make me nervous.
I think he was using hard drugs later in life, he was busted for possession of crack in the UK in 2009. Finding that out yesterday kind of makes things make more sense, him dying that young.
The girl I was crushing on in middle school was in love with George Michael, and then she went full Madonna and got the papa don't preach haircut, which turned me off quite a bit, but I still liked his music. He was talented.
Such a bad year for music (Bowie, Prince etc), I guess bad would be an understatement with just Bowie but then adding in the others just on the music side alone... , it just flat out sucks. I gotta make sure to see some of my other 70s/80s musicians/groups before it's too late. Recently saw Tears for Fears, it was great, just gotta catch Depeche and Duran and everyone else too (was naming pop for Michael's thread, but love rock mainly). I can't believe he passed away though, on Christmas Day, Wtf, especially with Wham's "Last Christmas" (it's actually still selling well even in the last few years )... I think one thing that's cool is seeing all the anonymous donation stories that are coming out. He could have done that at any time when he had his dark/bad times and didn't. He certainly wasn't broke and had plenty of "**** you" money to do whatever the hell he wanted. Another great talent, I can't wait for 2016 to just go away. RIP
They've been touring decent amount, but I think postponed a lot of 2016 dates, I expect them to have something in 17 though. I caught them in 2014 at the Winstar, was trying for Austin show at same time but missed it, there was also a 2015 show in Houston (wow.. 2 years, time flies for my recently statement)... I guess more recent than 10-30 years ago
