so, is that it for Bill Brown? unceremoniously dumping him out onto the street? kind of cold-blooded.

According to Ken Hoffman (Chronicle media writer) Brown is coming back.

I assume he's coming to replace Deshaies.

I wonder why Brown is going part-time. Guessing he doesn't want to do a lot of the west coast trips.

    SCREW YOU SELIG!

the 80s were a long time ago. it's hard to believe, but Browny is frickin' old. Like me, only more so.

I don't think he is THAT old. At least, not for a broadcaster. I am guessing 63-65? Seems he was in his late 30s/early 40s when he started for the Stros back in the late 80s.

    Anyone know for sure?

You guys are forgetting the main thing here. He has had to watch this team day in and day out for the last 2 years. That would make anyone want to take a few games off. He probably picked up a 60 game plan to the Rangers and will be watching them on his off days.

The current Astros need a commentator like the guy from the "Major League" movie.

The Astros are so bad they are not entertaining. Need some comic relief from the broadcast booth to go with. I don't want to hear all serious commentating when the team is so bad. What's the point? Mix it up. Have some fun.

I'm happy to see Blum in the booth. I really kind of enjoyed him as a player when he was with the Astros. He wasn't anything spectacular, but he was really solid, did whatever the team needed, played a ton of different positions and without looking numbers up, it just feels like he had a ton of big hits.

Cool, too bad nobody is gonna watch the games.

Might as well save some money and not hire anybody.
