Well, he was clearly spaced, with eyes as big as saucers. He talked about those things people associate Leary with, in a disjointed, free flowing, and entertaining way. The audience, at a university, was made up primarily of hippies, like yours truly, but there were a lot of apparently "straight" people there, people who were curious about a man who was both famous and infamous. A pioneer and a brilliant man who was also percieved, by many, to be crazy as a loon. I didn't think he was crazy (not at that point, at any rate). I did (and do) think that his experience with psychedelics, while initially ground breaking and worthwhile, became an obsession with the man, and colored his perception of the world more than he should have allowed.
From reading the article I am wondering if this has to do with that kids with high IQ's are more likely to go colleges and hang out with people who use drugs more.
