I remeber in the fourth grade, it was summer break but my parents still enforced a minimum time I need to be at bed. A playoff game was on late and I was forced into my room before the game could be finished. I brought out the little transister radio under my bed sheets to hear them call rest of the game.
HAHAHAA Brilliant. But yes I am going to miss them terribly. I'm from Houston but I'm going to college in Los Angeles so I've been listening to every game. I am pretty sure I am going to listen to Gene and Jim on Sunday while watching it on National. I can't wait!!
I've never used sendspace, so I hope it works... Here's the last 3:52 of last night's game. http://www.sendspace.com/file/ejzpqv
worked pretty damn good for me thanks......i just want so say we have the best announcers(radio) ever and im going to miss them after this season. i know they probably wont read this but gene and jim did a hell of a job throughout their entire careers...thank you gene and jim for all the good times
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gwlghg Here's the last 3:21 of today's game. Reception was not as good today, I will have to put my radio in better location Tuesday. http://www.sendspace.com/file/14zlu5 This is the 1 minute "Best Of" segment from the Bobcats game. It's the "Dream Shake" on Robinson call. Enjoy
I heard MJ talking on 610 the other day. He feels that no announcements should happen on this until the end of the season and Gene and Jim are officially gone. This would let them go out their way and everyone can talk about them not their replacements. I agree with this completely, and it appears to be exactly what the Rockets are doing. There is almost certainly talks with replacements going on right now, hopefully they keep thwm behind closed doors.
YES, I had a little Radio Shack AM/FM radio, those are some of the best memories. I got caught by my Dad after volunteering to go to bed early, good times. Gene and Jim need to be cloned...
I've been turning down the volume on the tube and cranking up these guys since I was a kid. I would listen to the Rockets,Cougars, and Jerry Trupiano (doing Aeros games) under the covers. They will be missed....HOF announcing team to be sure.
The radio broadcast is about 1 second faster than the TV broadcast. It takes some getting used to, hearing Geno saying "no good!" while a player is shooting the ball.
Yeah ima the lack of synchronization is the only drawback.........I usually split time between the two now. But like you said if your used to it and with the drastic difference in the quality of play by play and color......I mean their an institution.
i've been looking for a thread about this too. i have very fond memories of the 2 of them too and even have peterson's autograph. i wish they would stay forever with the rockets!!!
