    Looks like a bug.

Happens a lot with Epic's engine, especially that particular one.

    We call it skating.

I got it today and, after playing for a couple of hours, I think it's amazing!!!

I'm not usually into these types of games (mostly just stick with sports) unless it has a good co-op mode to it. For some reason I just can't get into them playing by myself and I've never been a big online gamer. Anyway, I picked it up for that reason alone, so that my brother and I could go co-op online.

But, I decided to just play through some campaign on Casual difficulty just to get feel for the controls and see how the game looks. I had to force myself to put the controller down and stop playing.

I'll be playing ALOT of this game and hopefully my brother will get it soon as well so we can get that going too.

I'd give it a solid 9.5 with what I've seen so far.

A game with a glitch? OH NOES!! I'm sure people will find lots of little unintended presents in the game. As long as the developers didn't go all "Hot Coffee" on us I'll live with it. If my game ever arrives, that is.

    Why?

It resaves from every checkpoint. Even if you had to restart the console, you should be able to pick up from where you left off.

So I could theoretically go buy a premium system and this game for under $500?

Would most of ya'll say your 360 has been a solid machine -- have they shipped new machines with the bugs worked out etc? I don't want to deal with what DaDakote had to do and send two of them back after they blow up.

Admittedly I had to send mine back (a problem that seemingly plagued the first shipment of 360s) but they were very efficient in sending me back my system (less than a week from shipping out to shipping back, they overnighted it back to me).

In my opinion, the 360 is still a solid buy and a very good home entertainment console. It has a good core of games that appeals to a wide cross-section of gamers, and until Sony proves me wrong Xbox Live is still the best online console gaming spplication in the business.

The only reason why I might get a PS3 at launch is to turn it around on Ebay or something. I'm going to wait for at LEAST one price drop before I get one to keep.

based on all of these threads (below) and from personal experience, all the bugs have not been worked out yet. if you decide to buy the 360, be sure to also buy the extended warranty.

I have had to send two X-box 360s in for repair....the same thing will happen with the PS3.....

I still love the system though.

BTW if anyone wants to multiplay (or co-op) GOW (or Saint's Row, or COD 2, or anything else) feel free to add me as a friend at gunslinger57. I'm not on terribly often but I've got lots of spare time right now so I'm available at most hours of the day.

For those that have had issues with 360s or are following this issue, what seems to be the most common problem with the 360 (the bad ones anyway)? I haven't really been paying much attention outside of a few stories from people online (some of which sound pretty bad).

If it overheating or something like that, I wonder if MS can get that fixed when they switch over to 65nm early next year. IIRC, that should make the chips not run as hot. I suppose MS could also be a little more picky on what chips to use for the system (better QA process that won't cost them much more money). I was planning on getting a PS3 around this time, mostly just because it would be the best time for a price cut (for both systems) due to the transition, but I suppose the PS3 could benefit from more reliable hardware as well.

If it is something else (disc drive, HDD, software, etc), never mind what I said I guess.

The only problem I've seen that was widespread enough to be addressed by Microsoft is when three red lights flash on your system. When it happened to me they told me to A) unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, then plug it back in, then B) remove the hard drive and try to turn it on without it. When neither of those worked, they told me to send it in.

A)sounded like an overheating problem, but I don't know what B)would solve. Maybe the processor needed to work harder to access the information on the HD, leading to overheating as well, I don't know. They just told me that it was a hardware problem that they had solved.
