nothing says they can't attend church. If your church just happens to be the one that wants to interfere willy-nilly in people's lives, they might be going to the wrong one.
Again why sugar coat it? If you want your male on male gay sex to be equalized as marriage then you go ahead and support that. I won't.
So, if homosexuality is indeed a choice, what kind of sadist would "choose" the lifestyle? Are you arguing that sexual desire is so strong that it would allow them overlook the legal discrimination, the harassment they face during their teenage years, being ostracized from family members and condemnation from an increasingly shrinking part of the population? Did the teenager who kill himself over the inner torment of not being to be open and honest with himself do so because his sexual desire was so strong that it overrode his will to live? And, if homosexuality is not a choice, could you please admit that you simply don't like them and see them as existentially inferior to you? All of this cloaked language is exhausting.
I did not invalidate any parts of the Bible. I misunderstood what you typed. I thought you were saying if modern teaching (and not in the Bible directly) said something was wrong so it's wrong and if something was right it was right. Although modern teaching does invalidate Jewish deicide as outlined Matthew 27:24-25.
Better question. Why does the GLBT community feel compelled to force a showdown in a small local church? What purpose does that serve other than to drive folks away? Maybe slowing down and letting it happen naturally over time is a better option eh? Its inevitable and already happening before our eyes...why the need to provoke confrontation? My opinion on this matter was made up years ago. I support gay marriage/unions/whatever. Thats my opinion. But I am just one generation removed from those who don't feel that way. Is it really going to stop the movement to not be so damn "in your face"? I'm actually starting to understand the feelings of those against gay marriage.
Showdown? Are they shooting it out with people in the church? Are they in the church disrupting services? Are they blocking the doors? Probably because if they didn't provoke the issue things might not change. Social change doesn't always just come about on its own but does require confrontation. And you are at most two generations removed from those who believed that non-whites were inferior and didn't deserve the same rights as whites. Change is always going to be generational in nature. If one generation didn't challenge the precepts of the prior one we still live in a feudal monarchy.
If you had even the most rudimentary comprehension of Natural Law Theory and its various ethical commitments, you would surely have the requisite self-awareness to feel embarrassed after your irrelevant posts.
I agree with primtim24 that we should derive our social views from the divinely inspired Holy Bible. For example, my view on abortion comes from Psalms 137:9.
I don't care about a definition of marriage. It is something that some people in our country can not do that others can for no particular reason. The original reason is a dated belief that only a man and woman could provide a stable relationship for a family. Same sex couples are just as competent and incompetent as regular ones.
I can appreciate you support of gay marriage. Its a view I share. What I don't appreciate is your mocking tone to me in this thread. I think you know damn well what "showdown" means in this context and won't waste any more time trying to "define" that for you. I refuse to reward obtuse behavior. What you seem to be missing is that you do the fight for justice no favors by being militant. Change happens when you appeal to REASON. I haven't seen any of that or any sort of attempt to appreciate what these changes might mean in the real world for others who disagree. You scoff at old folks like they don't mean a damn thing. And that attitude is unworthy of a fight for justice. And quite frankly its attitudes like this that delay the process by creating enemies where none existed. Like me for instance. I support the cause, but actually question that when confronted by these attitudes. Maybe I AM on the wrong side here.
again, no one's talking about this. that image you have painted is for you to obsess over and imagine. this is about marriage equality (and probably should have been titled so) and again, why only focus and harp on two men? there are not only gay men who don't do this, but women who love each other as well, included in the discussion of marriage equality.
I'm a Christian, and always have been. But I have, and continue to, always use the phrase "live and let live". I find it really disrespectful when Non-Christians, mainly Athiests, criticize my religion and my beliefs to no end. Because of this, I will not hypocritically criticize others for their beliefs/morals/etc. While I may not completely endorse it, many don't completely endorse what I believe or do, so that's really all I have to say. Just my 2 cents...
htown you seem to only think of homosexuals as male on male...interesting... What about this sort of unnatural disgusting gay *** homo activity? Spoiler
