Just be glad our cars don't run on water. Have you seen the prices they charge for bottled water these days?
Long answer short: Elect a Democratic president so oil execs won't be sitting on secret panels setting energy policy and so we can begin the long, arduous process of stabilizing the Middle East after years of willfully destabilizing it. Yes. Next year.
Short answer even shorter: Dumbass. I'll make you a bet: If a Dem gets elected in 2008, what would be your "time-line" to lower gas prices? You give me some acceptable area. I'll leave that up to you. Obviously, the max would be 4 years... I'll take this bet in a heartbeat. As much as New Yorkers feel they "know" Oil, quite frankly, you don't know a thing. I grew up with it. You tell me what you're willing to bet. I've got lawyers, as I'm sure you can find, to make sure your bet sticks. Somehow, I'm guessing you're going to be like most libs.. All talk. No action. BTW, still love you, Adam West with a black belt. Just calling it like I always have. It can be set up even online here, if you'd like. Let me know.
Yall need to pay attention to the above statement. It's not Bush (this time). It's not world politics (this time). When they switch over to summer fuel, it costs more to make. That cost is passed on to the consumer. Plus, there is plain old supply and demand. Some refineries are shut down for the switchover, some because of maintanence, some because of fire. For the past 4 weeks, consumers have used more gas than the running refineries can make and therefore our surplus has fallen (by 5 million barrels last week alone). We are currently in the lower part of the average supply (imagine a yellow light). Once all refineries get back up to full speed, it will level off and maybe even drop if they can make more than is consumed or at least keep up with consumption. But until then, dropping surplus = higher gas.
I'm still waiting for prices to dip back down to a dollar that was predicted back at the beginning of the year.
i feel the pain. I drive an average of 350 miles a day. I drive a chevy 2500HD, so 26 or so gallons gets me 300 miles. Gas fluctuates and will go back down. And, as someone stated, it is primetime summertime: cost always rise.
for your sake, i hope you're getting handsomely paid. i just put in 30 bucks after work and got 10.2 gallons. this should last me till oh I say wednesday or thursday

as much as I would love to pin this on the oil cartel run by Cheney, its actually seasonal. I believe it has something to do with the refineries prepping for something. Dont knoe the specifics of it, but thi shappens every year.
funny thing...in the Winter, gas is more expensive in Dallas than in Ft. Worth (where I'm living)...but in the Summer, its more expensive in Ft. Worth. The Reason has to do with the Ethanol Blend that gas companies are required to use in the summer. Ethanol cannot be blended at the refinaries because it breaks down while it is being shipped to the gas stations. Therefore, the ethanol has to be shipped seperately to somewhere in the area..it is then blended with the gas and shipped to the gas stations. This process is more costly overall, and therefore gas prices go up when the companies make the switch every summer (as required by law). Since Ft. Worth doesn't have the direct shipping lines that Dallas has, it costs more to blend the Feul in Ft. Worth than Dallas, therefore higher gas prices in Ft. Worth for only part of the year.
gas is just expensive period...I just paid 2.69/gallon yesterday...last week when I filled up, it was 2.40 something...crazy...I know with the holiday season and summer, prices spike...
