Maybe it's all about Kobe. Since GP played one season with Kobe, he is clearly superior to Wade. I wonder if rock4ever also thinks Luke Walton is better than Wade.
Two different players. Nowhere in Wade's career has been known to score, assist, rebound AND shut down the opposing teams best player CONSISTENTLY. Gary Payton is not only one of the greatest players ever, but arguably the best PG of his era. If Wade retired today, Gary Payton's career would ***** on his. You must be like 17 yrs old or something
I dont think I flat out and made that statement. But I definatley raised the question. MJ won six titles with a HOF Scottie Pippen. Kobe won 3 rings with a HOF in Shaq, went through a rebuilding stage and won 2 more rings without any HOF's. Would Jordan have a ring without Pippen? Would Magic have won a ring without Kareem? What about Bird without Mchale? You can argue no. You can argue if Kobe wins 6 rings he'll be possibly they greatest...
I was around to watch Payton's entire career. You could make the argument that GP was the best PG of his era, but his peak was not as good as Wade has been for the last several years. GP never carried a team the way Wade has. And at the end of his career, Wade won't have to become a journeyman begging superstar players to carry him to a championship, because Wade will already have at least one Finals MVP award.
As I remember it, you challenged others to explain why Jordan should still be considered as having the greater career if Kobe wins a championship last year. A lot of arguments were given, and you wouldn't agree to any of them and you continually argued in Kobe's favor. How should one interpret that, other than you believe Kobe has had the better career?
What does it matter that Kobe didn't win the last 2 with another HOFer when he still had arguably the best team in basketball? You can't list 2 teams that had more talent than LA in 09 or 10. You will be hard pressed to find 2-3 with a frontcourt like LA has. Let's not try to sell it like Kobe is winning with less.*
Gasol led Memphis to 50 wins in 2004 and 52 wins in 2006. And who cares whether a player is the best at his position? How is that relevant at all? And you think Pippen was the clear cut best SF? What about Bird? You think McHale was the clear cut best PF? What about Barkley and Malone?
So your saying the Lakers are 50+ win team without Kobe? In the west right now? Um, no Responding to ur last questions, scroll up and read all the posts.
Payton carried Seattle for 13 seasons lmao..He was the best offensive AND defensive player in those 13 seasons. You obviously have amnesia
Correction. I challenged 90% of everybody in the thread saying Kobe was a "rapist" and basically discrediting him because of their personal dislike for him for stuff outside of basketball. I do personally feel Kobe's as good as Jordan right now
