He's a good defender, but I doubt anyone who throws the ball like a bomb into the basket is the best player. I can easily throw Garuba into the game if we need some defense but play with him in any usual game is really funny. On the court most of the time (especially on offense) he doesn't seem to know what he's doing. I haven't seen a player with such limited offensive skills in a long time. But he's a really good defender and being able to defend any position from 1 to 5 makes him worthwhile.
I don't think you can overstate his defense at the moment. He's an absolute force. He's limited offensively but showing that he can hit 3s is nice. The short roll passes to the corner are nice. I just feel like he's sort of telegraphing limitations like he just needs to get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. Idk if it's nerves or what but he kind of further limits himself by trying to move too fast and not really processing the information in front of him.
Something tells me it might have to do with a feeling of a lack of trust from the coaches and some teammates offensively? He seemed to get more playmaking opportunities on the Spanish team.
another good game. his minutes are getting slashed for Bruno Fernando because we need to pair him with KPJ? good lord why is everything being catered to a former 2nd round pick. anyways I love watching Garuba play. Great defense and his hands are like steel traps. he should be playing anytime Sengun is sitting.
he somehow can linedrive a 3 in! haha. but yeah, he'll never be able to score but as long as he is battling for offensive rebounds and making good passes, he'll have a role for a team somewhere.
This is how relevant Garuba is. This thread is about as much attention he gets. Anyone heard from him? Me either
