At least he's looking He's got the highest net rating and best defensive rating by a huge margin in his very limited minutes. Maybe means nothing and is just chance of garbage time results. Amongst all players in the league with 15 games played averaging 5+ mpg, he's got the highest net rating and the 5th lowest defensive rating. That being said, broski is 19 I'll give him some time, unlike other young guys Garuba has the physical tools to build off of, his impact on the game isn't intended to be a creator. If he could develop a corner 3, adjust learn positioning better, how to play without fouling he's an instant 10+ year vet who will get multiple contracts over the vet min.
Blah blah blah that makes absolutely zero zero sense. Count how many teams have a short stature individual as their big man coach If we use your theory we can have Jeff Van Gundy, coach K, Dick Vitale, or a putz like Jim Rome teach our big men......but teams don't. Because big men are a special breed. They want someone in place that can associate with their likes and dislikes. They want a big man coach that can relate. Like a fighter pilot wants a current or former fighter pilot teaching them....not the guy cleaning latrines last week (regardless of his knowledge). Using your logic I could probably do better with Mario Elie or Vernon Maxwell as my big man coach. But where is Marcus Camby or Ralph Sampson types that actually did something? Fact is Sengun, Wood and even Theis know more about the position and could teach Diop a thing or two about the position. But, I'm glad you like him. Give me Chuck Hayes.
If Sengun is barely playing Garuba has no chance... Silus is too entertained with Wood and KPJ's development...
I'm not going to follow this thread all the way through but we cannot go from a Harden-based team with all veterans that are 10 year players that are competing for a championship to a team of rookies and all of a sudden expect them to be polished players. You cannot quit on every young player they second they show you they suck right now. These aren't Michael Jordan. This team sucks for a reason. Give them time, as in YEARS. This is what it means to be a young team. 3 years from now if we make the right decisions you will see a lot of these players and feel really stupid for having these knee-jerk opinions now.
Thing is fans are all about knee jerk reactions. The win at all cost crowd for example who want the Rox to make the play in are gonna be the first ones turning on the front office for not acquiring talent when we see Detroit get Jabari Smith or Banchero at draft night...
And the tank forever crowd will be the first ones turning on the front office for not acquiring talent when the 19 year old is not an all star.
I posted that weeks ago, before he went back down to Gleague, when he was unhappy and never playing at the end of the bench in a Rox uni
Giving up on Garuba is stupid AF. Silas has no clue how to use him or incorporate him into a rotation. Silas needs to watch how Abdelfattah and Spain used him.
Look at Okongwu this season, he's also 6'8 and is playing behind Clint Capela and only in his second year. U guys are nuts giving up on their first year. I'm not only talking about Garuba, but last nights game, a lot of you folks been bashing Green. Yeah he sucked last night but that doesnt mean he's a bust. Let them grow and give them ample and enough playing time.
this is why its worrying that sengun is not playing... send him to g league for gods sake if you cant find minutes for him in A TANKING YEAR... this org is 100% incompetent... any franchise would grab such a player, made him into a ROY(!) and run with him as a franchise cornerstone...instead alperen sengun is made into a bench warmer... DUMB****S
Ironically though, a lot of people saying Garuba is fine are calling Green a flat out bust. There's rarely a consistent take on CF outside of a negative one.
No he doesn't, he's not on the team. The guy isn't as good as Wood or Sengun right now - obviously. Maybe not even Theis. So he's in RGV which seems fine. If the Rockets are crafting their game around Usman Garuba usage that means the other 3 players they got this year are already busts. I don't think that's a certainty yet
No one is saying Garuba is ROY or even a starter. It's silly to judge a rook who doesnt even get any minutes.
Garuba IS on the team. He may need reps in G League but he is still a Rocket. And Silas better have an inkling of an idea of how to maximize a first round pick or he truly is in over his head. The best coaches steal from other successful coaches/systems. Why push a narrative to stupid lengths?
There’s a reason they don’t get any minutes. Looking for Garuba to be gone at trade deadline as part of a trade or for a second round pick and cash considerations. He can’t shoot and that doesn’t play well in today’s NBA. We hit on 3 of the 4 rookies selected. That’s impressive
