the only reason people complain about "illegal" picks is because the refs along with rule changes have made this league softer since the 90s. Yao started to get called with illegal picks in 2005 only because cuban complained. When you have a bunch of floppers getting calls and then an actual illegal pick when a guy does get banged up, you have every right to complain about that non call.
Exactly, how can Yao's picks be called illegal and KG's ill-intended shoulder bunts be overlooked? If the officials want the game to be physical, then so be it, but there must be CONSISTENCY. The refs can't let KG get away with more physical contacts but call less physical fouls on Yao; the refs can't call touch fouls for Lebron James and D-Wade but not call hacks on Yao. I am all for NBA being more physical, but I'd rather see consistency first. And yes, KG is a punk. He always was, remember his comments (must have been 4, 5 years ago) about "bringing out my AKs and loading my pumps, it's gonna be war?" Winning a championship doesn't make him a better person, nor does KG deserve respect.
Just watched it. Definitely a foul. But let's not go overboard with the hyperbole here. That wasn't a flagrant.
Don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to be a softy here. All i'm saying is this HAS to be labeled a flagrant foul otherwise it will encourage other premeditated forms of aggression. Using your logic: what's the worst that can happen? You get whistled for a personal foul? You have to send the message that these antics won't be tolerated. This isn't hockey. This isn't John Chaney "Send in the goons" basketball. You are essentially condoning this type of behavior by making it known you will merely be whistled for a personal foul. As for Hines Ward knocking Ed Reed into next week -- the play was still live and both players were running straight at each other. Translated: play is live, he saw it coming and flat out got smashed. Call it dirty, call it whatever you want. I'm sure if you asked Reed about it and challenged him to put together sentence -- he would agree.
If it was the 80's, opposing teams would run Ray Allen or Paul Pierce round screens and just deck them KG style in retaliation.
thank God KG was on losing teams for so long. i used to think it was unfortunate for such a competitor, but it now seems fitting for such an ass. and it's not really this incident because this incident is just part of a larger pattern. he's an ass whenever he can be, likes to pick on people smaller than him or with less influence, essentially those that can't fight back. maybe he's a great person in real life, but he's an ******* on the basketball court and it's become clear that winning doesn't combine with that particular character trait well in kg's case. some people become bigger jerks when losing because they're just so frustrated, kg has become a bigger jerk because he feels entitled or empowered by winning or something.
KG doesn't have the threat of a Maurice Lucas, Anthony Mason, Charles Oakley, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, etc. retaliating on him. There are no real enforcers in the league anymore - especially not many that would club you to death in the parking lot and not have to worry about fouling out of a game because he sucked anyway (lol). Had Oakley seen KG do that to one of his guys he would've put a permanent dent in KG's chest. I can guarantee you KG would be yapping less. BTW, I don't think that was that vicious a foul - I've seen worse. It should've been a foul and maybe a flagrant, but geez, get up and play - we know the refs are (selectively) blind.
thats not a flagrant at all its a dirty foul yes but not a flagrant. watched the ending of the game and kg kept jawing with the warriors till the end. its funny the guy only tries to act tough with players who he thinks he can get away with. imagine him trying to do that to someone who wont stand for it. heck he back peddled away from zaza last year so what does that tell you?
Dirty, dirty play and certainly a foul. The game is much softer than it was 15 years ago but that would have been a foul back then too. If the foul wasn't called (maybe if it was) back then someone from the Warriors would have laid KG out on the next play. Too bad that if a Warrior player had taken up for Bellenelli and put KG on his backside on the next play Dictator Stern would have made sure they served a suspension. Funny how KG only picks on guards. Studio Gangster.
KG was not set at all so an illegal screen should have been called at the very least (ask Yao). He also lowered his shoulder which makes it worse. Hard pick, the refs missed the call.
I don't think its missed anymore, its more like overlooked. KG doesn't get called for anything. Remember the Calderon and Bayless taunting? That was horrible and the refs didn't say a thing. He is getting worse and will continue to do this and get away with it unless the league calls him out.
Definitely a hard foul but not a flagrant type foul! What i m suprised was it happened right in front of a referee yet he didn't call it! Replaced KG with Yao, it will be automatic ejection follow by 2 games suspension! Once again KG picked on an less known European player. What many times this season alone he tried to punk an European player? He definitely a sissy racist!
a great outside shooter, much better than Manu, who is the superior / more gutty athlete and the better defender as well as more willing flopper you're kidding. on Xmas day's game against the Lakers, he tried to do the same against Fisher, who was too smart for that. Fisher step around KG. KG is a headhunter on PNR plays.
