Garnett's probably one of the most intimidating players in the NBA -- I have no problem with the passion he plays with. That said, "Anything is possible!" was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. The C's were up 20 almost the entire game and he celebrated like he just hit the GW shot -- that was geeky.
This. KG was my favorite player outside of the Rockets but he became a complete jackass on the Celtics.
I was thinking the same think as you but when I saw him play yesterday, I saw a passionated player on the court and I couldn't hate no more. Yes he do some things but the guy is so intense and he absolutly surprised me with that slam he threw down in the 4th quarter, didn't know he was still able to do that.
KG acted the same way in Minnesota his team just wasn't as good as it was in Boston so nobody noticed.
and he was a much better player back then, so those of us who did notice thought he at least had a right to do any of that crap as long as he could back up all his antics with his play
KG has always been a passionate player, that was one of the things that I liked about him, especially since he was playing his heart out for a very mediocre team. But I couldn't stand it when he started taunting players and yelling "anything is possible" while on a team with 2 other superstars and killing the competition.
Agreed, that was a pretty lame thing to say but I would'nt give 2 ****s if that was Scola saying that after we won the title. And at least he didn't thank his hood but I still like u Ron Ron.
Here's the thing in the Rockets' case: No superstars, outside of a very fragile Yao Ming who frequently endures annual season-ending injuries... Don't make an argument for AB or Kevin Martin to be a superstar or even an all-star... please don't. The Rockets as a whole are not given credit for anything. Even during the 22-game winstreak they killed the story as quickly as possible and now it has been long forgotten... Had the Rockets gone to the finals and won, that is the case of a true UNDERDOG winning. That would be an appropriate time for the Rockets players to yell stuff like that. ------------ Now... as for the Celtics: 3 all-stars. Garnett, Allen, and Pierce. Aged, but still contributes a lot to the team. Then they have a rising point guard in Rondo who has the potential to become a superstar point guard in this league. Celtics get MAJOR attention from all media sources, and have gotten attention for long periods of time... When the Celtics made it to the finals, they were #1 in the Eastern Conference. They, as a team were at the time better than the Lakers. They didn't even take the damn series to 7 games and clearly showed dominance. And then at the postgame celebration, yelling "Anything is Possible!"? Uhhhh... come on... the Celts weren't the underdogs in any which way. They didn't take the series to 7 games. They constantly blow teams out... Anything is Possible? No... a Celtics championship and victory that season was PROBABLE. Huge difference. [/rant]
kg is a loser who would every want a player that wants a championship that much that he pumps himself up for every game. some of you people are ridiculous, for this guy to still be this hungry for a another ring after all these years in the league, its amazing.
Garnett plays with heart and is a first ballot HOF. Even though he it seems like he's on something more than adrenaline during games, I wouldn't mind having someone of the similar personality on the rockets team
I have a hard time believing many players are intimidated by KG given his reputation of having pretty much no bite to back up his bark (confrontational wise, that is).
That depends. I'll take a jackass that brings our intensity and interior defense to the next level. Not to mention our talking on defense which needs work...
How can Garnett be described as a Geek? I would have said more liked a street person which is the exact opposite!
I swear I only saw "last post: Yetti" on the forum overview page and knew your post would contain the words "street person".
You would have a hard time telling Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce you're not coming back, I said, especially if they plead with you to return for another year -- which is something I expect they've done already and will continue to do this summer. "That's very difficult for me," Rivers said, pursing his lips and stiffening in his chair. He was trying hard to not cry. "Because Kevin is ... he's the best. So ... that's very true." "You get choked up just thinking about saying goodbye to him, I said. "I do, whenever ..." Whenever he thinks about leaving? He left that part unfinished. "He's the best." You're referring to Garnett's dedication to the team? "Yes," Rivers said, "and it's pure. He is purely about winning. I've never seen anything like that. And sometimes he doesn't play well, sometimes he doesn't handle things well, whatever. But his heart." Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...tdown.lakers.celtics/index.html#ixzz0rM1Qol48
