I still have a problem with the guy, but like Steven says: He's been like that since the 90s, that's who he is.
That's not comparable. Comparable would be for that "star player" to be a guy the Rockets tried to trade repeatedly, short of that slowly fazed out of the offense, aside from being a decoy 3 point shooter, and that player being at the tail end of his career, where he's already made a ton of money, and choosing to go a team where he will have a more complete and defined role and a much better shot at a championship. Hakeem effectively left as a FA to go to Toronto of all places, and I don't begrudge him that at all.
