Legally blind? That might explain how West was able to trade Gay/Swift for Shane. That's below the belt. I take it back.

Clearly, being legally blind means CD missed out on watching the Gay highlight film that "einstein" posts to every thread.

Otherwise, the Rockets would have kept Gay.

Hell, Brian Colangelo, John Paxson, Steve Patterson, Michael Jordan, Danny Ainge, Billy Knight, and Kevin McHale all must be legally bline or else they would have drafted Gay over the non-highlight-friendly scrubs they picked.

These teams need to hire "einstein" as their VPYT (Vice President of You-tube). Maybe then, they'd be good.

    Definitely a pleasure, m_cable.

So, do you see Synder as being too unproven defensively to put on opposing big SGs giving us trouble? Agree with HP that Luther is more of a 2, but he gives away a lot of size. Kill Bill is the great unknown regarding his D, and I'll be grateful if he turns out to even be decent. Maybe he'll surprise us, but he has a pretty steep learning curve ahead of him, and a coach that doesn't suffer fools lightly when it comes to defense.

We want to limit Tracy's play at the 2, so he won't wear down as quickly, and Battier is unlikely to see many minutes there, being busy at the 4 spot, and backing up McGrady. I'm going to assume Sura ain't gonna be available, absent proof to the contrary. I'm wondering who you think might be available that we could be targeting as a 2/3. If Snyder could really handle tough defensive assignments, we would be OK at the 2 spot, IMO.

    Van Gundier,

My point is that just because you have a 3rd pt guard doesn't mean he's even considered insurance. To some coaches, specifically defensive-oriented coaches, all the 3rd guard has to be to make the team is a good scouting team PG in practice, meaning someone smart who can simulate several opponent offenses. Sure, I agree that being someone deemed worthy of actually replacing an injured player is nice to have and certainly something to get out of your 3rd PG, but I'm just saying that actually being able to replace an injured player is not necessarily the prime reason for signing Lucas. He's pretty quick, and he can similute in practice what Parker, Boykins, et all do to us, and we definitely need practice on that. I'd sign him just for that alone. But if he ends up getting exposed on an NBA court, like last year, and we have one PG go down, I'd just fill that by giving the duty to an existing rotational player in the short term, and look to get a stopgap vet for longer injuries, just like we did last year.

Whether this is what JVG would do is not my point. But it does happen.

I see Snyder as unproven overall. He's had an uneven career so far, so who really knows what we're going to get out of him. Getting another backup defender would be nice insurance for our team. If Snyder can be a quality defender, then doubley good. But if he flames out, then we'll be glad if we have one solid guy that can come off the bench.

As for who's avaliable, there's Fred Jones who we've been linked to before, who can defend one's and two's. And one guy who I just realized is a free agent is Dermarr Johnson. With JR Smith going to Denver, Johnson could be odd man out. His "82games" stats weren't that great this past year, but the year before that they were absolutely stellar.

I like his size and length, and it seems like he's totally under the radar and not going to get big bucks from anybody. Seems like yet another perfect Van Gundy/Morey player, who they can both agree on. I'm surprised his name hasn't surfaced at all on the board.

Thanks for the reply. Looking at how Johnson's career has gone, it's not too surprising that he's under the radar. The season before last seems more the exception than the rule with this guy. Maybe a two year minimum contract, with the second year a team option, could land him.

First I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed both your recent summary posts, they've been informative and funny. Also I'd like to ask if you recently a) lost a job, or b) ended a relationship. Dude, I feel like I've seen more and more of your posts and stuff lately,....either way, keep it up man.

No, I haven't lost my job. I'm posting a lot at work. Shh. Don't tell.

And at the risk of turning this into a sob story "She screwed me thread", no I haven't gotten out of a relationship. At least not lately. But I'll tell you, the last one really cut me up. And the one before that really hurt too. Now I'm more gunshy than ever and... and... Hold me. (Sobs)

Looks like we have our answer regarding whether the Rox are still in the market for a PG.

Dallas picked up Anthony Johnson from the pacers in what looks to be a pure salary dump:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=115785

Considering that Johnson would have easily fit in under our TE, and wouldn't require the Pacers to take back any contracts at all, my guess is that we just passed on this opportunity. Looks like we're going with backup PG by committee, unless the front office has something else up their sleeve.

Is the 3-point distance that Spanoulis shot his high percentage from the same as the NBA line? Also, what would be considered a good/average/bad percentage in his league?

Just wondering how that percentage might translate to the NBA.

m_cable, this thread was excellent. For some reason I read the last page of this thread without reading the first, saw Smeggysmeg's response and thought "why do people call VSpan "KillBill," and then having already forgot what thread I was in went to your initial post and read it, finding not only the answer but a bunch of other good stuff. Then I went back and read your Snyder thread and that was excellent as well.

I hope VSpan can be a Bobby Sura type player. We need that fire, it was missing last year.

Well I was planning to do one on all the summer leaguers so Novak and especially JL3 should get a lot of space on that.

As for Battier, I don't know. To be honest, I am pretty worn out over the whole Gay/Stro/Battier issue. Everything, both rational and irrational (from both pro and con camps) has already been said on the subject, and I'm not really in the mood to dredge up all of the residual negativity. Maybe I'll do one strictly on Battier as the season gets closer. But for right now, it's not on my list.

In terms of Udrih, he seems like more of a pure PG than KillBill. And while Beno is more of a jumpshooter and distributer, KillBill is a slashing, attacker of the rim. Udrih has always kind of reminded me of Derek Fisher. Though maybe that's just because they're both squat little lefties. And like I've said before, KillBill reminds me of Sura and maybe a spot of Nash with that "stop on a dime, fadeaway in the lane" move.

    Maybe I am a moron.

But could someone explain the reference to "Kill Bill". Who and why is it pertaining to?

    I must have missed it.

Sorry for being not so smart.
