Yeah, the ESF game is pretty cool, but it needs a lot of work. Lots of bugs. I don't know about you, but does the KI meter seem to take forever to cross the transformation level, right before it's just about to get to it. I spend 15 minutes trying to get to the next transform level which is about 1,000,000 points away, but right when I'm about 10,000 points away it takes like 20 more minutes to reach it. Things like that are too annoying. Cool game, but lots of work needs to be done if its ever going to reach DOD, or CS popularity.
Rocky is a good rent if you're a fan of the series. I stress "rent" 'cause you'll breeze through it in a day or two. I've been addicted to WWE SmackDown SYM for the past six months solely on it's CAW system. Nothing's cooler than having a promotion's top heels be Venom and Jason Voorhees.
I guess that may be do to the way they set up the power level increase. I know that the stronger guys you kill, the higher you increase, the lower you kill, the lower, blah, blah. So at first when everyone is the same but you start kicking butt and killing everyone 10 times over, while they just stand there, your increase in powerlevel will not increase as much. This makes since since Goku wouldn't just spar with Krillin to get better but rather Vegeta or whoever since they are stronger and more on his level. However, I know what you mean. Sometimes, I'll fill a map with bots, which btw sucked in the first release, and just leave them to fight so that I could come back later and get stronger faster. I would have thought they would put away to increase base pls at the beginning of the game so that it wouldn't take so long, but I haven't seen one, though I haven't looked in a while. Oh, and I'm sorry if you actually weren't like 50 frags ahead of everybody and didn't get much of a pl increase. I wouldn't know that to tell you. Just wait and hope they get to improve it later. They are doing this for free and have really improved. No one could tell the alpha from the beta. The alpha had no melee, only like 5 characters, no sword for trunks, no transformations, and only like 3 attacks for each person. Now they have new models and all that other stuff, though it took like a year. I remember seeing this game on Extended play, or X play, I can't remember which. They said it was a good game, but the thing that killed was that there was a flaw where you could use the same attack to beat every fighter, making this a VERY short game.
I've been playing quite a bit of Vice City for PC... until I decided to upgrade my computer, accidentally frying my new motherboard. I also was into Enter the Matrix, but that held my attention for 3 days, tops. Way too easy...
Go to Bioware's sight, if that's the official one. I can't remember for sure. Read the message boards there. They have plenty of sites that have user created material. Also check gaming magazines from time to time. I can't remember wich mag it was but one of them listed their top 5 user Neverwinter modules.
As far as RTS games like castor was talking about. I could never really get into AofE and most of its knockoff RTS imitations. I was always really bad at it, the computer would always show up with Centurions and siege engines when I'm still trying to invent the friggin chariot. Combat I thought was always really tough too, just a bunch of frantic pointing and clicking and usually based on numbers vs. numbers. Micromanaging peasants, etc, also bugged the hell out of me. It's too bad because that kind of a game always piqued my interest, it was just the execution I couldn't get into. Then I discovred Shogun: Total War back in the Summre of 2000, stil one of my alltime favorite games. It combined turn based strategy (la lot like Risk) whith highly detailed, and massive real tiime battles in 3D environments with thousands and thousands of troops squaring off rather than 15 clubmen vs 7 swordsmen. I still play it every now and then. Medieveal total war took this formula and improved on it that much more. I love the total war series, I can't wait for Rome Total War to come out, It's basically the only PC game that I play.
SM, like someone said, try the official site. Also here: http://www.planetneverwinter.com/ It's too late for us both, my friend. Seriously, Morrowind is one of the best RPGs I'd ever played. going first person on it added a great atmosphere. Never thought I'd have so much fun in a game with so much walking...and walking...and walking.... Halo is a PC FPS. Bungie showed it to the press at E3 back in 2000. Microsoft saw it, knew they had to have something for launch, and quickly made their move. That's why Halo is as good as it is. It's certainly the best console FPS out there. Part of that reason is because it gets as close to PC level of control as any other console game has. But I have to disagree about best FPS period. PC FPS, especially in huge-ass LANs, are way more fun. Halo is good, but no console shooter will ever touch a PC, IMHO.
No Dakota, Halo is the best multiplayer FPS ever, with the only remotely close competition coming from Goldeneye 64. It doesnt matter that you can get 64 in BF (you mean Battlefield 1942 don't you?) the numbers don't mean nothing. Halo is basically flawless. Every game that comes out now thats a FPS sucks (in my opinion) cuz it's nowhere near as good as Halo. Nothing beats 4v4 system links for Halo.
Level of control? You play games like Unreal and BF. I played that game once. I walk around aimlessly, then get shot from god knows where. WTF? It's stupid. In Halo I know exactly what is taking place everywhere everytime. Or at least I have a damn good idea. UT is just r****dedly wild and uncontrollable.
Nomar, Well I played Halo and had the exact same experience. Have you ever played a FPS on a PC? You have lots more control than on a PC than any controller on single controller. You're just used to the controller and game surroundings of Halo. That's fine, but don't knock BF just because you couldn't take the time to be decent in it. The cool thing about PC games is on almost all of them you can configure to your own keys. Once you are used to a set of keys for forward, back, L, R, shoot, jump, 'use', crouch, etc., then you are pretty much set for any FPS.
Still BF 1942 like crazy. I've been playing the Road to Rome expansion pack a lot. I can't wait for the next expansion pack... I hardly play online, I usually play a campaign or a single battle. My young boy just loves to shoot the bad guys! Is Rise of Nations that good Castor?
I guess it's just whatever you get comfortable with. I think the mouse and keyboard is drastically inferior to the controller.
I agree, I know, mouse gives you more precise control, but a keyboard---ugh. Give me frantic running and gunning in Halo with a controller and a lot of ammo anyday over precision clicking and arrow key pounding. I wouldn't want to play the Hangar Bay on Legendary 87x in a row with a keyboard and mouse, they're much harder to throw at on the floor in frustration and despair!
You can get the same 'control' as a mouse by just adjusting your sensitivity to 10. But yeah, I agree man.
I really like it Sonny. If know that you like RTS and if you like Civ2-3 then you will probably like this game. There is no single player story led campaign. They replaced it with conquer the world which is like risk on crack you start off with one territory and then you expand to the surrounding territories. The difference is when you move into a territory instead of rolling dice like in risk you actually go intoRTS mode and fight the battle out. Each territory offers a scenario and if you win that scenario you get the territory and any perks that may go along with it. You can form aliances with other nations and if your allies have armies adjacent to a zone you are attacking they will assist you. It is different than normal RTS games in that there is no story line to follow in the CTW section. It does offer a bunch of historical scenarios to fight. Also the multiplayer part of the game is great. Ther eare several unique game modes(like the assasin mode I mentioned earlier) that make it fresh. If you are wondering if you'll like it try the demo. I have it on a demo disk from PC Gamer but I am sure you can get it on the web. CK
Again...Halo is built like a PC game. So your own example is my point. UT is pretty wild. Some don't like the newest version, though it is extremely gratifying when you have it refined. But like someone said, you can alter the controls any way you want. And the freedom of a PC shooter has no equal. Playing once doesn't count as experience, you know.
Is it being made by Valve? I checked their website and they don't even have it listed under their Projects page.
