so how does the xbox live messaging system work? is it gay like wii's where both users have to have added each other, or like AIM where one person can just IM the other and let them know who they are

were there any signs leading up to that? Ive been noticing my xbox make clicking sounds...and then it says "cannot read disc". Thats happened about 4 times now and there are no scratches on the games.
when mine did it, there were no warning signs. though i had my xbox vertical, and the power right next to it. went away from doing both of those now. heard those often lead to problems.
