I can't recall if Shaq had any stress fracture on his feet. But I don't think so. But big man's feet are problematic.
EPIC FAIL 1. You fail to mention the 99 seaon was a 50 game season...due to the strike. 2. You fail to mention the production of Shaq compared to Yao. 3. Everyone knows Shaq took a vacation during the regular season only to turn into a HALL OF FAME CENTER in the playoffs. He took his game to the next level during the playoffs for the simpletons .
When Phill Jackson became the coach during Shaq's 8th year in the NBA he started using Shaq differently that cause less wear and tear. Phill also said he is the only coach who knows how to get the max out of Yao a couple of years ago.
Whoooooooaaaaaaaaaaa! You, sir, win the internet I still think Yao needs to cut down to a more muscular and mobile 285 lbs, though. Great observation though, propz.
He only played 49 games in year 7 because of the lockout - it was a 50 game season. His injuries were confined to a short period and not the same types (e.g., broken thumb, pulled calf, abdominal strain, etc) of injury as Yao (broken leg, broken foot, broken foot).

Yep also add the feud he had with Kobe and his beef with Pat Riley which made him even less motivated.
Shaq's supporting cast in Orland >>>> Yao's supporting cast, Nick Anderson is underrated, Penny Hardaway was solid in his prime.
1. so if this was a shorten season Yao would have played in every game and the whole playoffs...so what Shaq had a history of missing games so he would likely have missed them in 99 too 2. rules changes and nobody is saying Yao is as good as Shaq. Only question is durability 3. Well the Rockets can give Yao a vacation too during the regular season so he is fress during the playoffs
Yes, ass it day and night, he play with his super powerful body...but skill wise, one on one, Can you say Shaq dominate Yao? Those 2 are perfectly match, no one would dominate, period
So basically, Yao should fake more injuries (and stop playing meaningless season games) and maybe he'll last longer in the season/playoffs. That makes perfect sense.
Also remember Yao's injuries are not all the same either. He missed games three years ago because Hayes fell on his knees and broke a bone there. He missed games because of a toe infection. He missed games because Okur kicked him in the foot.
geez..this thread is not about comparing Shaq and Yao's gameplay or dominances..it's their injury histories... give Yao a break, dude has to much to carry on his shoulder.
