Shaq wasn't even lazy during his early years, I believe when he started winning championships he started becoming lazy. I remember an article where he admitted that he wasn't even in shape in the 2002 season when he played the Nets in the Finals, but he still won it all. All said and done, he had a sprained ankle, hyperextended knee and a sprained MCL in 96-97. That's not a lazy unmotivated injury. That's pretty serious.
https://www.getimpactgel.com ^^^ Let's pitch in and buy Yao some of these. I saw it on Pitchmen with Billy Mays. If it's on TV it has to work right? Right? Right?
I don't know why I'm responding to a poster that knows nothing about salary cap rules and implications, but on this site, we try to educate everyone. The nba has a salary cap, floor and revenue sharing. They share everything except luxury boxes, parking and concession, and local tv and radio money. Some owners like Sterling of the clippers will spend just above the floor and just make money hand over fist. Some teams like the knicks and bulls have so many luxury boxes and fat local radio and tv deals that they always make a lot of money. A team like houston which is in the middle have to really market its team to sponsors and people inside the 75 mile radius. People in houston like to see moves toward winning a ring. When they sense that you're sitting on your hands and not trying to win a title, they stop coming. Have you watched a game and seen the lower bowl that was empty? You never see that in chicago, detroit or some of those rabid fan bases. When people stop coming, that mean less hot dogs and beer, which means less cars for parking, which equals less money. I gave u 5 teams that are higher evenue teams than the rockets. None of thos teams have the "cash cow" that the rockets have. When u see a team like the pistons, bulls, and knicks generate more revenue than the rockets. La is always trying to win titles and that all that have ever mattered to them. They don't make decisions based on popularity or selling t-shirts. If they thought trading kobe would bring a ring, kobe would be gone. That's the way cuban, davidson, holt, and owners like that think. Its all about the rings, the money will come. If les isn't thinking that way, then maybe that's why we haven't been to a conf finals in 12 yrs.
This is great analysis. Thanks My only question is...what sort of injuries did Shaq have? I heard a doctor on the radio this morning talking about Yao's injuries. He was asked if they would happen again....the doctor said absolutely they would. That stress fractures indicate a bone weakness relative to the pressure being but on those bones...but that the Rockets should not expect him to continue to be able to put on the minutes he has. He suggested they sit Yao every 3rd game or substantially reduce his minutes.
My wife who was a collegiate sprinter has from the first time she saw yao run that he runs poor. The way he runs, on his heels, will always put a lot of undue stress on the top of his foot. She explains it as running with skateboard feet. Its like running on your heels with your toes curled up. As hard as it seems, he needs to get on his toes, archs off the ground which would give support to the entire foot. I have no problem with the basics of the thread, but the op is comparing shaq who missed games cause of a balky knee or ankle vs a guy that has had 2 season ending foot injuries. Not to mention, shaq played huge minutes in the regular season and playoff games. People want to bring up kobe and wade, but in those games shaq missed, those teams were under .500. When tracy was healthy and yao would miss, the team played .650 ball. So if the every third game is the solution, i'd rather just get someone I know I can count on for 35 mins and get me 12pts 10 rebs. I don't have to have a low post center, I just need a low post scorer and it doesn't matter who that is.
so how much attention do u think rox would draw from worldwide without it being sticked up by 1.3 billion chinese?? u r racist!! idiot!! shut up ur mouth!!
I'm going to go out a limb here and assume you didn't watch much NBA before the arrival of a certain Houston Rocket. Shaq in his prime would dominated Yao on the court. I'm sorry, but this is a fact, Yao does not even begin to sniff the levels that Shaq played at. Shaq had the determination to destroy his opponent, and he would have.
It's kind of funny that esort to bashing T-mac in a thread that has absolutely nothing to do with him. In mostly every post in Garm you are taking some type of shot at him even when the topic has nothing to do with him.
