[Games] Valkyria Chronicles is the best game I've played in years

thanks for the heads up. picked up a copy of valkyria and the devil may cry trio for the ps2. too bad i wont have time to play it till next month.

Like the article said, far from confirmation of a sequel (especially one that would be released in the US), but nice to hear. PSP (or maybe DS if it can handle it) spinoff would be nice too.

Don't like the link, but there was indeed a section about VC in Famitsu this week. But with all the other crazy stuff in the issue, it seemed to get ignored.

Of course, I suppose that site could have made it up, knowing that there was VC info in Famitsu but no one knew what it was (at least no one outside of Japan).

edit: Oh wait, nevermind. Apparently there was a scan of the VC section of Famitsu. Basically the same stuff that was said in the link above (so it looks legit).

 

I'm going to go out on a limb here and maybe i've crossed the line, but i'm going to say that Valkyria Chronicles is NOT the best game Drexlerfan22 has played in years.

I didn't Valkyria Chronicles on PS3 was the first game of the series; could of sworn there were past installments of the game back on PS2. Differently gonna have to get the game when I get a PS3.

Yea. The name, "Valkyrie/a", sounded familiar; it was probably Valkyrie Profiles.

 

So it looks like there will be a sequel. PSP instead of PS3 though. If I find anything else (scans?), I'll post it here too.

This came from a Japanese magazine (Famitsu), so they don't really mention those sort of details. We'll probably have to wait until its release in Japan before finding out anything regarding a US release. Speaking of which, apparently the game is scheduled for release this Winter in Japan.

 

Just out of curiosity, is VC rare or have you guys seen it in stores regularly? I wonder if I can find it at a good price.

Seeing this thread pop up reminded me I want to play it, and since I'm not all that inclined to finish Uncharted I want a new game to play on the PS3.

Anyone tried playing the PSP on a larger TV via the component out? I have a PSP but have yet to try it. I would do so with this game.

 

Yes and no. It did do better in Japan, but that was expected. I don't think it was able to meet expectations in Japan, although it did do better over time. This new game being on the PSP should help it out in sales though.

I actually like the idea of a Valkyria Chronicles game being on the PSP (think I posted about the possibility earlier in the thread). Although I was thinking more along the lines of a spinoff and not the actual sequel. Of course, this could easily be a spinoff, but it's being called VC2 to help with sales. And if it sells well, proving there is a fan base for the franchise, we could see it come back to consoles later on (2011?).
