If you're willing to wait. Direct2play has the game for like $39. (if that's discounted enough).

Just have to wait for the Keys to arrive, which is what I'm waiting for.

Normally they are instant, but not the case with preorders.

First time I'm unable to log into the game, right now. I've only played for a total of like 2.5 hours. This is making me angry.

Apparently, my cities were deleted. Now I can't even get in to start a new one. I feel like I should get a partial refund.

Instead of bringing out new servers to meet the server load. EA has decided to disable "Cheetah" speed to reduce the load on the servers.

    What a bunch of pricks.

Where? He said they were going to keep the servers up "as much as we can". LOL. He sounded fearful saying it.

Can't even log in to play at 10:30 at night on a Thursday.

    Worst game ever.

Seriously, is there any way to get a partial refund for this screw job? Fun game, but I can barely play it.

EA is just a piece of **** company. For a landmark game like this they only have like seven servers...

Every MMO, be it FPS or RPG has literally dozens and dozens of servers; even the ones not as iconic in stature as the SimCity brand is. What were they thinking? Bunch of ****ing morons. They could have simply looked at the amount of people that have preordered and made enough servers based off of that. This is why people hate megacorporations. No regard for customer satisfaction, just want to maintain their profit margin.

Doesn't help that they attempt to buy out every developer to publish their game, rush their work, push them to release a mediocre product (in most cases), and now they are shoving Origin down everyone's throats to compete (HA. THATS A GOOD ONE YOU GREEDY BASTARDS) with Steam. For a game that is REQUIRED to be CONSTANTLY online-only you'd think their first priority would be to make sure... the game... was... ****ing... online in the first place.

Not to mention their PR fiasco when one of their community moderators on their forums told everyone they could REQUEST a refund, only to tell them they cannot actually give you a refund because of company policy. What the ****? WHAT IS THE ****ING POINT. And then typical backtracking greedy pieces of **** EA deletes all evidence of the original post and says "we didn't say that."

And therein lies the faults of a free market. For every legitimate business, there are greedy mega conglomerates that use their large stock of fiscal capital to buy out everything and everyone, and then cut corners to maximize their profit while offering their customers the least amount of utility possible.

It seems like the only thing EA is good at is systematically destroying every new IP that ever tastes a small modicum of success. Dragon Age? Great new IP. Destroyed by EA because they rushed the development team and forced them to churn out a crappy product. Mass Effect? Same deal here. SimCity? After this fiasco we'd be lucky to see another iteration of SimCity ever again. And don't get me started on their NBA Live series. Most successful game they have ever had (Live 10) and they completely destroy all of it and produce one of the crappiest reboots of the series ever (Elite series).

I'm honestly surprised more people don't stay away from these games on Day 1. I love Simcity, but I've yet to see an 'online required' major game release that wasn't a cluster**** at launch.

Kind of funny since EA actually started off the generation rather nicely. Mirror's Edge was a nice new IP (now being ignored). Dead Space was good. Dragon Age Origins had problems, but pretty solid overall. Skate was interesting (also dead now I think?). Etc. I almost started to like them.

    That didn't last long.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised too. I'd think publishers would get the picture now. I saw some talk about how Watch Dogs might do something similar. That would pretty much kill any interest I have in the game.

I get the gameplay benefits of being "always online," but you don't have to do it in a way that hurts gamers. Look at Dark Souls (or other games). If you don't do it that way, you're basically just trying to cover for having horrible DRM in your game.

On another note, if you guys are fed up with crappy anti-consumer games like this (pushed out by publishers like EA), feel free to support games from developers who actually listen to their fans (after all, they're paying for it):

DRM-free and no "always-online" BS. Maybe EA and others will start to get the picture.

    (yeah right)
