    First Game

The opening game was low scoring by Pro City standards however park legend Dwayne Rogers led The Hustlers to victory over the DBG's

87-73 with 27 points. Tim Breaux (ex Houston Rocket) led the DBG's with 16 points.

    Second Game

The grudge match continued from last year with Frank's team overtaking Black's team, coached by Sam "I AM" Cassell, 78-60. Randy Burns (Wichita State) led in scoring for Frank's team with 24 and Rashard Lewis was high scorer for Black's team with 19 points.

    Wednesday July 14, 2004

    First Game

I remember a guy by the name of Mario Elie and he was a loud mouth. Rockets need someone for that role. Some players complain, yell and ***** at refs just to shake things up, not actually to get the call. Jones has a better chance than Daniels to fire up a team.

    The Fonde-mentals
    Wanna be a baller?

    by Daniel Kramer

From the Houston Press - Thursday, March 6, 2003

The legends' shoes still squeak on the hardwood. You can imagine the training sessions that Rocket Moses Malone, reigning MVP of the NBA in 1982, gave a novice Nigerian hoopster named Akeem (later changed to Hakeem) Olajuwon. Even today at Fonde Community Center, you might see pickup games among Rockets, Cougars and Owls. And there's a chance you'll witness a legend-in-the-making -- like Sheryl Swoopes playing against the men, because, well, she's Sheryl Swoopes.

Year-round youth leagues, winter and summer adult leagues, and the occasional NCAA-sanctioned league bring organization to the talent that flocks to the courts. Then there's open play, where you can test your skills against some of the city's best players. Of course, there's no guarantee you'll see any pros, much less try to drive the lane on them. (C'mon, you think you could?) But you might set a pick on -- or more likely get picked by -- a future star...or at least a worthy opponent. Open daily. 9 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. for pickup games, 5:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for league games. 110 Sabine. For information, call 713-226-4466.-- Eric Norvell

Unless Fonde got a major makeover, I do not think that picture was one taken this week at least.

The hallway from the entrance has a lot of old Akeem era pictures....

It was a punk rock venue for shows around 95-97.... after the APV room was torn down. Wow.....talk about worlds colliding!
