Yeah, um... that would be me. Left the machine on for they day while the family went out.... I'm really impressed with what these game machines are contributing to this research.

I thought that might be you. It looks like we have 5 people now (wesnesked and WhoMikeJames joined...guessing WMJ is him anyway), and we have 9 WUs done in all.

On the whole, the project is now at 990 TFLOPs, 734 of them coming from ~30K PS3s. Just 10 more TFLOPs. :)

Its not that it slows it down, actually it might just a little but barely noticeable, its more on how long it takes to complete a WU...not sure why mine would take so long....literally even if a let my computer run most of the day, would take a few days to finish one WU, whats with that? Although i'm just guessing..havent tried it, but i'm pretty positive its going to take a few days.

It might be a bug in detecting how much time is left. I think I've had the application say it would take 32-64 days to complete a WU on my laptop, but after working on it for a little while, it changes to around 1-3 days (and that's how long it takes). I'm assuming your definition of a "few days" is more like the first number and not the second (the second is pretty normal I think, especially for a slower PC working on a large WU I imagine).

BTW, it looks like we won't be getting our Petaflop:

Why are you people playing games on your PS3s? You're supposed to be curing cancer here, not actually using the PS3 for entertainment. ;)

Oh well...maybe it will pick back up later in the week. The number of users is still increasing.

Just so we're clear, you think that after the 1st WU gets going and or after it will begin to pick up?

Yeah, after you let the WU go for a little while (maybe 30-60 minutes...haven't really timed it), it should give a more accurate reading.

This actually happened to my desktop PC just now actually (thought it was just my laptop). I finished up another WU, and when I started the next one, it initially said it would take like a week or so to complete the WU. I look at it now (maybe an hour or so later), and it is saying it will take a day and a half to complete.

Where are you seeing where how long it takes? I was kind of estimating, because it took like 2 hours for it to get to 500/5000 for my first WU, and i was like holy crap this is going to take forever. Then it screws up so I had to uninstall..still trying to figure out whats wrong, hopefully I get a response on their message boards soon.

On the bottom left, where it says "WU End:". I have 1d, 9h, 22m, and 46s for this WU to complete.

The part above that also says how long each frame takes, which is kind of useful.

edit: Actually, I just noticed that at 25 seconds a frame, this would take over 3 hours to complete 500 frames (if I did my calculations right). So that shouldn't be unusual either I guess.

Oh, sorry about that. I forgot you were having problems seeing that display. That makes a lot more sense.

Hopefully you can get the problem straightened out in the future. As I pointed out in my edit, it doesn't seem like your computer is that slow in calculating these WUs, if it took 2 hours to complete 500 frames.

It won't overheat. It's designed to run non-stop and never over heat.

What games did you buy? Virtual Fighter 5 is really fun if you have a buddy to play with and MotorStorm is ****ing amazing. I am reviewing it for the show next week and we'll be playing it for the live portion.
