Creation Kit launched today, along with the Steam Workshop, which can be used to install mods for Skyrim: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/browse/?appid=72850 There is also a hi-res texture pack available as (free) DLC. Between this and some other improvements Bethesda have already made, the PC version of the game is much, MUCH better. I'm kind of surprised actually. Good stuff.
So is this creation kit coming to consoles, too? Before launch of the game they clearly promised to make it for PCs AND consoles.
No. Well...maybe, but I doubt it. They've left the option open, but I don't really see MS or Sony approving it (well...Sony might approve it since they allowed UT3 mods...but given how bad Skyrim PS3 is...). I don't remember them promising to bring it to consoles, only to consider the option. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm surprised they left it as open as "maybe later down the line." They might gather some of the best mods and release as DLC though.
i picked this up for $40 at bestbuy , figured i'll pick up Mass Effect 3 later in the year when it goes on sale. Anyone finished this game? it seems really large
Haven't finished yet, there's just so much to do and explore with all the guilds and side quests. Also I always have the tendency to wanna make a new character because the different races and ways to play are so intriguing. My main char is a Redguard that I play as Roque with light equip, two swords and a bow. Fun as hell to play as an assassin that hides in the shadows and kills enemies before they see him. Am head of Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, loved the missions. Just started a 2nd Dunmer that I'll play as an evil Mage, made him look really ugly, somewhat like the Emperor in Star Wars IV-VI, throwin Lightning at my enemies. Love the game, never gets boring.
I haven't finished yet. Put in 150+hours over the last couple months and still have the main quest and the civil war quests. Plus I'm sure there are some more locations I haven't explored yet. That's why I love bethesda's games though, an insane amount of content compared to most games.
I'm level 43 and haven't done much of anything in the main quest, I guess. lol. I'll be playing this game for the rest of the year at this rate. I have to admit, the game has gotten a bit boring simply because the combat has become a joke. Once you get to conjure 2 Dremora Lords and have your sidekick - you aren't going to get touched (well, not as far as I've gotten, anyway - which, like I said, ain't far. :grin
I've had this since christmas and only just started playing this week, love it. I never really got into making my own weapons with Oblivion, but it's definitely the way forward. I go for dual War Axes and heavy armor, with Elemental Fury, Dragons barely touch me.
Im up to 61, and am only half way thru the MQ, and havent touched the civil war one yet. I cranked up the difficulty at around Lvl 40 cause it was getting too easy. I also have taken to avoiding the most powerful methods I have at my disposal just to make it more challenging, I havent taken the dual conjuration perk and have started using magic schools other than destruction as my go to.(paralyze and run in to finish them off with melee, more archery)
A friend told me that I had to try this game so I picked it up. Never been a fan of these epic games, but this one is amazing. Thanks for bumping this thread; although as I'm reading through everyone's posts, I'm quickly seeing how completely over my head I am in this game. Any simple advice out there for a newbie to the game to get me off the ground? I've literally just begun; only at level 6 right now.
If i were you, i'd just play the game and have fun, then by the time you reach level 50-60 you'll decide exactly where you should have put perks or what kind of character you would really have preferred to create. For example some people find out that they actually really like archery, when they thought they really wouldn't. Then you start all over again and create the character you really like.
I agree with this. The more you do, the more you will find what you like. Or since you haven't played this type of game before you may want to play several different characters up until about level 10-20 trying different spells, armor, weapons, alchemy, enchanting, smithing etc. until you discover which style you like the best. Then start over and combine the things you liked from all of these characters. My xbox had been disconnected for months during renovations to my house and has just recently been turned on again. My brother was visting and we created a new character so we could play while he was visiting. I discovered that I really undervalued smithing and enchanting in my previous character, and I'm thinking of starting over again. My other guy was about level 30. I hate to give up all that I've done, but it will be cool to do it the way I like now that I know I like it. Of course I still have to have time to work on Mass Effect 3 as well, so I don't know when I'm going to be able to do it. I just need more hours in the day or week.
Anyone played with Dawnguard? I still haven't finished the initial game, but added Dawnguard and joined the Dawnguard. I'm in the first dungeon they sent me to hunting vampires. The crossbow is kind of cool. I'm sure others will go on the Vampire, and Werewolf route, but I wasn't even sure how to start that.
New DLC HeartFire Build your own home, garden, adopt kids ect.. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/TvhQZoyZn1g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
yes. I just did half the work for you... http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls...ie=UTF8&qid=1346262582&sr=8-1&keywords=skyrim
Anyone played this yet? I just got my new xbox again last week, so I still haven't the game yet. I do have dawnguard, but will probably wait to buy Hearthfire until I finish the game, and don't have anything else to do. From what I've read about hearthfire it sound tedious and not necessarily fun game play. I was curious if anyone had any opinions of hearthfire after playing it.
Just started playing, seems pretty cool. I don't like it more than Morrowind, but I'm liking it more than running through Oblivion worlds all the time. Why does it track how many bunnies I have killed?
Got three characters, my main character is a High Elf level 52 that I use as a battle mage a Daedric Sword in one hand with any kind of destruction magic in the other hand. 2nd character is a Wood Elf level 40 that specializes in archery and daggers with sneak. My last character is a red guard level 24 that is basically a meatshield with a twohanded warhammer. Elves are my favorite race wish they had two extra races in the Dwarves which are basically a type of elf and the Snow elf which are now the falmer. I'd like to play as a snow elf!!!
