With PC version you can also map eight of your favorites to 1-8 key for quickswap ability. That's really useful and I didn't figure that out until recently. As a mage I have 2-3 destruction spells mapped, a heal spell, clairvoyance spell for questing, and then a few shouts.
Playing Dragon Age right now and loving it so far. Will get on to this after I finish Dragon Age 1&2 so giving them a chance to straighten out all the bugs with the latest patches making it more stable.
Decided to stop putting it off and buy a house last night around level 7. It's empty. Guess I better go out and beat up stuff to build up the bank again and furnish the place.
After buying the house, I have nothing. But making money in this game isn't that difficult, so I'm not too worried. All I do is run around killing things for loot anyway. I keep forgetting to quest. lol.
So I'm traveling over by Redoran's Retreat, about to enter it to finish a quest by killing bandits when I stumble upon .... a dragon attacking a giant. I freaked out. Spoiler Spoiler I tried to keep a distance just to watch, but then thought to myself... this is a chance to knock out a dragon and a giant in the same battle (of course it helps that they both kind of beat each other up)... so.... cast my flame atronach and sent Lydia in, and they both started going off on the Giant while I unloaded frostbite on the dragon. End result : Spoiler Dragon goes down in flames : Time to absorb my first "solo'd" dragon : Giant turns his attention to me, so I decide to take him out with the help of Lydia and the conjured flame atronach. Heck, he's already down on hit points, so why not? End result : Spoiler Bow down beyotch! Like I said... this game is a blast so far...
Wait till the ultimate edition like me. The sequel is so bare and 1/4 as big. With the DLC it should be a decent game, but alone it's kinda deflating.
As a level 10 Elf mage with Destruction and Restoration specialty it was very easy to solo a dragon. Destruction in one hand and heal on the other. Keep hitting dragon with destruction spell as it comes close and then heal self with the other hand as dragon attacks you (dual casting as necessary). You will need to invest heavily in magicka % regen. and magicka items or you will go OOM. Dragon was dead in 5-10 mins and my mage was never below 50% health. I used the same strategy with a giant with cold spells to slow it down while blasting with fire with the other hand. The trick is to unleash everything on it before it lands more than 2 hits on you. Start of with the fire rune to get it below health before torching it down.
Those are awesome screen shots. I ran into a dragon fighting a group of bandits and had the same idea to let them fight each other and then kill the weakened survivors. It was a little tougher than I expected because one bandit attacked me, and then my aggro crazy horse started fighting bandits and killed one then attacking the dragon too, and then going back and forth between them. It was pretty hilarious but in the end after using almost all my heal potions I killed the bandits and dragon. But weak ass bandits don't compare to the giant and dragon combo you took down.
Nice pics DOD. That's pretty neat. Love how the AI interact like that. I was ambushed by a few bandits, but they crossed a creek and giant crabs started attacking them.
Damn, middle of the night I was sneaking along a river trying to keep my distance from a group of giants and mammoths on the bank, when I look away in 1st person mode to make sure I'm not too close. I look back just in time to see a huge angry bear barreling toward me. Lydia and my fire spell made short work of him, but holy crap did that startle me more than anything else in this game so far. lol
What startled me the most was when I was crossing a bridge in Winterhold and heading to the mage college there, a dragon swooped in on me. The bridge is hundreds of feet in the air, probably, and narrow... there's nowhere to go but backward or forward. At first all I heard was thundering wingbeats and then there he was breathing fire. Then he landed on the bridge in front of me. I turned tail and ran back into the college as fast as I could. That and the Giant vs. Dragon encounter above were my two favorite moments probably so far.
They say that dragon encounters are random but I had the very same incident. Fighting some trolls (no loot on the one that was already dead ...../bleh). but maybe thats just cause there is a troll camp near by that area.
My sons like watching me play and the youngest one jumped back when I turned a corner and those little rat things jumped on me. Lol
I didn't realize that dragons could fly into cities. Just fought off a dragon with 20+ guards in Solitude.
