Y'all are making it extemely difficult to hold off until Christmas to get this game. It's for my boy, but I will be playing it after he goes to bed.
Every ingredient has 4 effects. When you gather something, go to the ingredients sub menu under the items menu, and click on an ingredient to taste it. When you taste it, it will consume one of the item, but it will tell you the first effect. You then make.potions by mixing two or more items with the same effect. Part of the benifit is that ingredients effectively weigh nothing, so you can carry around enough to make a whole lot of potions without penalty.
Companion Quest chain is fun and profitable. It's not hard to level smithing with making Iron Daggers. You can also enchant the daggers and vendor them for more gold back.
yeah I know but I noticed alchemy and blacksmithing and probably all the other professions gain lvl pretty quickly which would in turn lvl you up fast. Im already 17 and most of my lvls are from professions. so just wondering how you got so much gold without being higher lvl with those professions lvling up so fast. i want to get my blacksmithing up high too although I have been relying on magic lately.
As a mage, I need a melee companion or someone to take the heat off me, but the most frustrating thing about companions is their pathfinding sucks! The fact you can use them as a pack mule is awesome. BTW, another cool thing is how Lydia will switch from melee with a sword to sometimes using to staves to launch magic attacks. I don't know if I'll have to replace her, but I'll miss her. lol.
OK that will help a lot. I've been mixing some every now and then at random, and I'm always unsuccessful so after a while I just gave up. I'll definitely do some work on making potions now. Thanks
You can always have them join you again. I believe once you tell them to get lost, they just go back to their "home base" wherever that was.
No, telling them to "go our separate ways" is asking them to leave your company, but you can always go back and ask them to join you again. They just go "home". For example, Lydia would go back to Dragonsreach. Telling them to "wait here" just means that. They will wait at that point until given further orders. This is if you want to go into some area where you don't want the follower aggro'ing enemies or if you just want to solo. From what I understand if you let them wait too long at that spot, they just return home. Either way, you should be ok to go ask them to join again.
It's funny because I think it's a great lesson for kids to wait for Christmas and not always have instant gratification. But that's got to suck for you the adult to have to wait.
With all the discussion about telling your follower to wait or part ways, I just came across a fight where I had to tell Lydia to wait at a particular spot because she was getting in the way and getting herself killed. So I requested she wait a few steps behind me while I solo'd some giant spider. By the time the battle was done, she was gone. That was expected - if you have them wait too long, they disappear. They actually head back to their "home". Once I was done, I fast-traveled back to "home" which was Dragonsreach where I expected to find her. She wasn't there. I thought she had fallen victim to a bug. I decided to wait in the castle fo about 2-3 days. After that period of time, she appeared in Dragonsreach. She still had everything she had been carrying before she left. Whew. I guess there's a waiting period after they leave. Maybe it takes them that long to get back.
Agree about the delayed gratification lesson for kids, but damn, I don't know if I can wait! Oh well, the build up and wait will make Christmas that much more enjoyable for both of us.
A few pc screenshots I took on high and ultra settings, no actual spoilers. Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler / Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
There should be a chat option called "let's trade", then just go into your own inventory and give it to her.
I don't see that option. Could this be a bug? Edit: Ok. Now I see. Apparently I couldn't figure out the concept of a scrolling menu. Thanks for your help.
lol, yes the interface is garbage. I was a couple hours into the game before I figured that out... Also when I watch people play online, they forget to favorite spells and weapons. You can quickly change them in battle, with pc version all you have to do is push q to access them.
