OK, I feel better now. You're usually wrong, so I'm feeling much better about our chances.

that would never happen in houston. ever. he's have to blow a few more saves in a row to start next season to even get the boo's sort of started, and even then maybe not.

and for whoever, the a's did not win the series with the gibson homer.

Ha ha ha... This thread is the highest of comedy. An emotional roller coaster of epic proportions. You poor, sad Astros fans. :p

Well we astros fans have virtually no experience with world series games or how to deal with the emotional trauma that comes with them so give us a free pass.

The key is that Podsednick didn't offer at any of the sliders in the AB, nor did Uribe in the AB before. If they're not offering at Lidge's slider, its obviously not his best pitch, now is it? Plus, Lidge's slider for a strike is a very hittable pitch (much like Roy's hanging curve for a strike)... and is actually more of a "get ahead" pitch, or changeup, when he throws it.

Thus, he has to locate with his fastball to SET UP the slider out of the zone... he couldn't do it tonight, and got beat. Thus is the life of this day and age of knowing every single pitch that everybody throws.

Also, it helps you appreciate the life and times of Mariano Rivera... he throws a pitch that even if you're looking for it, even if you make contact with it, you're still likely not going to do anything iwth it.

Our bullpen gave up 5 runs and recorded only 7 outs. Lidge was one of many problems tonight.

I am glad everyone believes in has confidence in Brad Lidge. I don't. He's done, at least for 2005. Scott Freaking Posednik went yard on him. I am just hoping we don't get swept like dogs.

OK, one other "rose colored glasses" point so I can get some freaking sleep tonight.

I love the fact that, when they come to Houston, their pitcher has to hit and they lose another bat out of their lineup.

I think that hurts them way more than it hurts us.

I don't think Lidge will be throwing many more sliders in the playoffs... I'm not sure he can trust this pitch in a crucial time like this. I think Lidge can be successful with his fastball alone if he can get it up at 98, but not at 94
