Anyone used the Big Punch for their tier 2 kit? I usually like to get close whenever I have a 1 v 1 Titan battle so it seems like it would fit me perfectly. Haven't gotten that high to unlock it yet but just wondering if the difference is worth it. My Titan loadout (level 30) Atlas 40 MM Cannon Electric Smoke Salvo Regen Booster Survivor
I agree it's pretty balanced gear wise for a new player, but the high rank at the very least means the ranked player is very experienced, knows all the maps very well, and tricks that a new player probably won't, even ignoring any advantage from gear, burn cards and perks. That can make the match unbalanced in many cases. An experienced and skilled player could do well with the starter gear, but an inexperienced player with the starter gear vs someone with 30+ hours of game time and all the upgrades makes for a tough fight. The good thing is that you can rank to 30 or higher in around 8 hours of play time, and if you play objective matches like hard point, you don't even have to have great kill/death ratio to get lots of points defending capture points. So it isn't going to take you months of grinding to get all the unlocks even if you started a week or more behind and constantly have more deaths than kills. The main disadvantage is going to be map and in game knowledge more than lack of unlocks.
i agree with this. though i will point out...as morpheus pointed out you can level up really quickly, but thats misleading imo. reason being, you get a ton of points for completing challenges and you basically complete a handful of challenges after each match. stuff like killing so many grunts with a certain gun, killing streaks, calling titans numerous times, etc. for instance i think i'm up to like level 22 or 23 and i absolutely suck. up to this point my kills basically come from grunt kills. so your level might not indicative as to how much time you have played. granted if you're halfway decent at FPS games, you'll be fine. but yes...the players at level 50 obviously had to put time in so they're familiar with maps and tricks just from having the experience
I've said this before, but leveling has 0 to do with someone outplaying you. The best gun in the game is one of the starter rifles, the best titan in the game is the one you start with. There are some weapon add-ons you need to unlock, but that has nothing to do with your level, and everything to do with your ability to kill things. The best Titan weapon is one you start out with too, I might add. If you're having trouble, you should begin with thinking about yourself. If you run into a stacked team, that is an entirely different story, but they're not beating you because of levels I assure you of that. http://gfycat.com/PrestigiousTheseBumblebee (see link for parkour awesomeness; you can't do this in other shooters right now.)
Big Punch goes HAM, I use it most of the time. I go for the Titan execution *every time*. Perfect load out more or less, I use the rocket that breaks into other rockets (I'm level 49, I don't recall when it unlocks). I don't use regen booster...faster ordnance is better if you have it available. The way to win titan fights is to do the most damage possible in the shortest amount of time, that's why atlas' can hang with ogres because of the damage core. They pretty much shred other titans. Stryders...aren't even a factor really.
You just have to get more of a feel for the game. It is pretty fast pace, you constantly have to look up and around. It will get better you just have to find your niche.
I haven't ranked up that high but you can catch a lot of titans off guard by punching them. I usually punch then back up and start shooting. I am close to unlocking the big punch I will let you know
ehh doubtful...i've never been very good at FPS games. its even harder for me using keyboard and mouse. i'm not all that mad about it...just trying to give perspective for instance if this were halo...it would have taken me a lot longer to reach level 20.
I'm too old for this game then I guess. It's got nothing to do with nothing. I'm just too old. "YOU DAMN KIDS! GET OFF MY DAMN TITAN!" Grandpa here is going to teach you kids a thing or two. Oh darn...I died again.
i'm just gonna move on to another game i might actually be decent at. wasting my time with this one lol
no fun dying non stop i think part of the problem is i dont use the mini map enough...and im not sure i ever will. i don't like taking my eyes off the action. prob why i sucked at halo too
You just need to glance once in a while, big red dots show up whenever someone without a silencer shoots. Easy way to get kills.
trust me i've heard it all from everyone when it comes to FPS games. constantly be moving...use the radar/mini map...etc. doesn't help. i kid you not i just played a game a few min ago...i was constantly moving the entire game, and i only ran into grunts/specters the entire game, finished with like 5 attrition points. because you get absolutely nothing for killing those things. granted i strayed away from the center because thats where i was getting killed the most (ie: most players converge there) so titan battles and all...so i said let me try moving around to the left side or right side and just climbed walls/jumped buildings moving up and down levels. nothing. the keyboard/mouse combo might be hurting me too...i think i might be better with a controller, but like i said i wasnt very good with halo either so who knows
Also try sticking with other gamers on your team, they will find the opposing players for you and all you will have to do is shoot who they're shooting.

I'm still amazed at how good people are with a keyboard and mouse, in playing FPS games. I'm not even that good with a controller, much less two separate things to control with both hands.
