Game Thread: Rio Grande Valley Vipers @ Idaho Stampede 3/13/2013

Rockets beat the Suns and White erupts for a 30 point triple-double. Great night for Rockets Fans.

 

For the other 11 watching the Youtube stream, it looks like the game is at 8:00pm. :grin:

 

Royce hits a 3 pointer as the buzzer for the end of the 1st half sounded, but it was just after the shot clock expired, so they called it off. He did have a hell of an outlet pass earlier in the quarter, though.

 

Looks like it's just me in this thread, but Royce's final numbers :

8-12 FG's, 19 pts, 7 rebs, 6 assists, 4 TO's, 2 blocks

Most of his points came within the flow of the game. He still tried to make a couple of crazy passes, but made a couple of really impressive ones. When they put a smaller guy on him, he posted him up. When they put a bigger guy on him, they ISO'd white near the top of the key and White got around the defender pretty much at will. The broadcasters had high praise for White. At least one or two of his turnovers were a result of his teammates not expecting the passes. He showed a bit more explosion on a couple of his dunks as well. Like I said, most of his points came within the flow of the game, and he wasn't really the focus of the offense unless there was a mismatch they wanted to exploit.

Sad that you can easily watch the minor league team in another city but can't watch the major league team 25 miles from the arena.

 

Wow, the Idaho Stampede arena has an inflated Bounce House so the kids don't get bored while watching the game .... Sick! We need something like that at Toyota Center ...

 

He is an All-star in the NBDL. One of the best players in the NBDL. The Vipers recently got him in a trade with the Erie Bayhawks.

 

I was thinking about watching this after the Kings game... Looks like I should if only to see how Royce looked in a good game

LOL nice. So is he still tweeting? I have ignored him since he finally started to play in the NBDL.

 

What the hell man! I watched this game late Thursday night and I stopped reading the posts after this one because I didnt want to know what happened before I saw the game. Kept thinking "Damn, Royce must have had 20 in the 4th" Anyway, RW looked pretty good-probably could have as many points as he wanted if they would have kept feeding him the ball. Doesn't seem to hustle all the time. Looks like someone who is used to playing a lot of minutes his whole life and kind of paces himself. Glen Rice is a very good D-League player also. I don't know why he wasn't playing earlier in the season but he's averaging 23 pts and 10 boards in March shooting close to 50%, and over 40% from distance.
