Has anybody ever compiled the ERA of closers pitching in non-save situations? I bet you its about 3 runs over their norm.
You're right, I was reading the row for men in scoring position, less than 2 out...not man on third. As I understand it, 60% is a pretty good rate, so maybe he is not as bad a situational hitter as I thought.
i'd be willing to agree with you in games with large leads or large deficits on the premise that the game "doesn't matter as much" to them. But in tie games? I don't think they have a reason really to not be their same dominant selves (if they are dominant in save situations)..
Lidge hasn't looked sharp all season. He's still getting strikeouts, but he's been living on the edge in all his appearances. Dating back to the final weekend of last regular season... I'm starting to worry.
I was worried when he gave up that homerun to that weakling leadoff hitter for the White Sox in the World Series.
it'll be on Preston. Daryl formerAstro did it to us...so maybe Preston has one more up his sleeve as a formerNat
BANG BABY! As I said it (that it'd come down to Preston) I was hoping I was reverse-jinxing morgan! hahahahaha sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
His control is nowhere near it normally is. His stuff is still good, but his grasp of it is inconsistent. Most of the walks/hits come on mistakes... but most of the K's are still on the good stuff. The only good sign, I guess, is that its not totally a physical (nor is it simply a mental) problem... just something that requires more fine-tuning.
Nice to see that Morgan is back to driving balls the other ways like he did last year. His swing is back!
