No, it means they are not going to be that 65+ win team that folks thought they were..... They probably win 50....but they are not an uber team......even with uber talent at 2 positions. Chemistry and style of play makes a HUGE difference, the Heat's big 3 do not fit.....they will all have to make MAJOR changes to their own games to make it work...... MAJOR changes. DD
Would a box and 1 work if the single man was on Mike Miller? I know The point of a box and 1 is normally to stop the best 1on1 player, but maybe if one player stuck to miller all over the court and the other 4 zoned up, it could work.
kind of like how espn said they'll be champions and beat the wins record without them playing a single game? come on man, get used to this all season. people are going to hate on them and cheer when they lose. you act all surprised.
since when did the cavs have any post up players? zydrunas illgauskas? ben wallace? they dont need no post up players. they had about 234242 WIIIIIIIIIDE open 3 point shots by 3 point assassins who can rain them down all day normally, eddie house and james jones, which they just completely blanked. I think the haters are failing to get some eyes and realise if they had made those 3245324 wide open 3 pointers they'd be LEADING this game right now
i don't think they'll win 65 games either b/c it takes a few months for a team of this magnitude to gel. but they will be the best team in the east when april rolls around. they are all unselfish so one ball isn't the problem. the problem is they need a 3pt shooter to spread the floor and they don't have it right now with mike miller out. you can see boston packing the paint right now and forcing the heat to shoot and they are missing. selfishness isn't the problem. secondly, their lack of an interior presence on the defensive end is showing. they will have no problem scoring several months down the line.
If you are willing to escrow, I will give you even money for up to $1000 that the Heat will have the best record in the NBA this year.
lol @ 9 points in that first quarter, not that boston was much better at 16. they look awkward out there
Ok, let's do it. We have to find an escrow because too many people have welched on me through Internet bets.
who said espn was smart? who brings espn in as a source of credible evidence? these 3 guys have been "the man" solely for most of their career. and they haven't played together basically at all in a real game. they will struggle to start the season scoring the ball. but after 2 months, i expect them to score at will as they define their roles a litle more. so offense isn't a concern if i was spoelstra. if i had to be concern about something, it's their lack of size. that has to be addressed. or they have to do something different defensively -> use more of their quickness/speed/athleticism.
They'll be 60+ win team. Theres nothing wrong with their style of play. All the turnovers they've had are careless mistakes like palming, steps, miscommunication on passes, things that can easily be corrected over time. If they just knocked down their wide open 3 point jump shots this game would be COMPLETELY different. And its their FIRST game vs an upgraded last years FINALS team in a hostile road arena IN BOSTON.
Lol, that's the problem right there. The Cavs had a million 3 point shooters. The Heat best 3 point shooters are Jones and House. No chemistry is going to help their lack or a post man and 3 point shooters
The Heat aren't making their wide open shots because they suck at shooting. This isn't chemistry, it's crappy shooters.
1-7 from 3s. 9 turnovers from james and wade. take away those turnovers and they are in the game despite bad shooting. sloppiness is b/c wade didn't play all preseason and he's their 2nd best player. they'll be fine. look for them to play much better in the 2nd half.
The Heat are shooting 27% and that is why they are getting blown out. If you think they are going to shoot that all season, then you are an idiot.
