No doubt ... Game 6 is THE game to do it. Roy and Roger both seem to have the attitude to brush this off and take care of business. Roy needs to do his thing and somehow we need to get some runs in the board off Mulder. I just hope Lidge can get it together. Even the games we won he came close to blowing it.
Roy is susceptible to the occasional lack of control and/or bad inning where he gives up a couple of hits in a row. Sometimes it's early, sometimes it's late, oftentimes it's all the other team needs to eek out a victory. That's what worries me about this game. In Game 2, I thought his "meltdown" would be that inning where he put a couple of guys on at the end of the game, but then he got that groundout to first base to get out of the inning (where he pumped his fist).
Hasn't this amazing team proven TIME and TIME again that they are up for ANY challenge? HAVE FAITH and BELIEVE!!! You bastards are going to make me put another "I KNEW MORE THEN YOU" line in my signature... BELIEVE DAMNIT!
I wrote this yesterday for our "Jobu" skull shrine and will make a sacrifice unto Jobu that is meet and right so to do for game 6.... ORDER OF JOBU Here follows a faithful and most reverent account on the liturgical ceremony and most honored service of the devoted Astros disciples to our sole advocate and mediator to the Gods of Baseball: Lord Jobu Jobu be with us! Be it known that Head Acolyte, Most Exalted Protector, Supreme Postulate and Grand Poo-Bah to the Order of Jobu, Keithius Conservatus Maximus, shall be responsible for the holy shrine of Jobu and shall, henceforth, be the bearer and protector of both it’s sacred mysteries and most divine mojo until World Series Come or such time that the rite of passage is initiated to ordain the next Head Acolyte in the month of September. Hereafter, Gregius Le Tiredus Scotchius, Amberidius Amorous Morganus, and Baconus Pissius Longus shall be all titled: Vice Acolyte, Under Postulate, Lesser Exalted Protector and Supplicant Postulate to the Grand Poo-Bah of the Order of Jobu and are responsible for assisting in the sacred rights of the divine mojo and as protectors of the holy shrine of Jobu and it’s sacred mysteries. Hereafter, all disciples that call on the divine mojo of Lord Jobu shall do so with the grace and dignity befit our most holy advocate and mediator and with offerings of chicken, tobacco, incense, rum, jalapeño peppers and the charred representation of the mascot of our enemies. Hereafter, as a disciple calling on our exalted Lord and advocate, Jobu, shall do so during offense and defense with the calling of his holy name before and after while motioning in the Order of Jobu postulate's genuflect. That is, tapping the upper and lower left arm with the right hand in rapid succession a total of four times, then wiping the right hand across the chest from left to right, then tugging the right earlobe with the right hand and finally clapping twice. Let us rejoice in the name of our sole advocate and mediator Lord Jobu and bring offerings into his holy shrine until World Series Come, Pennants without End, playballamen!
Don't the Indians lose the World Series after winning the pennant in Major League? Screw that, I'm going with Jesus!
Time for the Astros to have an offensive outburst. Roy O takes us to the promised land. Astros 11 Cards 3
This year is different then last year. Game six on Wed is Roy_O not Pete Munro. Get a grip people. If they can start 15-30 and get shut out 10 some odd times in the first 40 games, then they can come back after last night's tough loss.
Even though I still feel sick from yesterday, I think we will win the next game. It would be great to beat the cards in their own home.
yeah....if there was a Game 6, he would be the guy I would have wanted....he will be nice and rested for game 2 in Chicago.
We need a big game from Morgan, he has too quiet and picky against the cards, we don't need any 3rd strike looking calls from him.
I agree. Morgan does need to pick it up. Another point. This is the time for Phil Garner to shine. He's not known as a great baseball coaching strategist, but he is a known as a fiery type motivational coach. He needs to give a speech before the game that inspires this team and gives confidence to the players who are down in the dumps right now. And I know that there are some.
At least Lane has homered this series. Morgan is a ghost for the most part. Sure, he has had some defensive plays and a few singles but that is not enough from your Bagwell replacement. I hope he turns it around.
The only thing that I can hope is this -- losing game 5 will really bring the Astros down, and down hard. But if they can come back and win game 6, they will be a stronger team for it. As has happened so often this season, they can say that they stared death clear in the face, then rolled right past. This would make them even stronger in the world series.
I have to say I like your reality better. Mind if I join you? It is nice that we have our pitching all set for Saturday.
Roy is definitely the guy I want on the mound at this point. Hell, I'd be tempted to let him go the full 9 at this point if he's under 135 pitches and his arm isn't falling off. I also think Ensberg HAS to do something tomorrow night for us to win. By the way, does Lamb sit against Mulder? If so, I see Willy T having a nice little game on the basepaths. Time for him to steal some bases. As I said in another thread, after Game 4 our attitude was "We're up 3-1 with 3 chances to go to the WS." So, as much as last night sucked, we still have two more chances. I don't feel very good about a Game 7, though. Tomorrow's a must-win, IMO.
There's room on my train....although keep it low....my head is pounding from the celebration last night. 44 years....I'm glad I got to see it.
