Had we lost last night it would have been worse than the 16 inning loss to the Mets....worse than losing to the Phillies in 1980. Being a Cowboy fan, it would have been worse than "the catch". Being a Rockets fan, it would have been worse than Stockton's 3 in the playoffs. Being a Maryland fan, it would have been worse than losing the 22 point lead to Duke in the final four. Thankfully, it was a figment of my imagination and we are looking forward to Game 1 on Saturday in Chitown.

OOOOOOOOOOOO-Kay. Im just throwing it around....
Remember this is a team that started out so poorly, and proved everyone wrong making its way into the crack of the playoff door *CLUTCH*, they pulled off the win at home against the Braves in 18 innings after being down most of the game *CLUTCH* Going back to St. Louis with Roy O taking the Mound...(TBD)
...do any of these things resemble "Clutch City" to you? Maybe you need to put on your glasses so you can see "Clutch City" on that pedestal you placed it so high upon.
I relaize you may be depressed after the loss, but geeze have a bit of faith in your boys. They proved you wrong thus far.
Oh wait, no I want you to keep doubting them. :p

You need to be pinched hard.

The worst part about this is we have to sit on this until Wednesday night. I think it's safe to say we are all a mess until we play ball again.

I am struggling with depression and I am mad at myself that I would let a sports event affect me like this. I am rarely depressed, but that was the alltime worst Houston Sports Fan Moment, and that is a amazing thing to say when you consider Oilers-Buffalo, UH-NC State, UH-Irish (Cotton Bowl), and a million other Houston sports disappointments.

I believe that the Astros are done; I don't think they can rebound from this. They have left so many runners in scoring position that it is a miracle they are up 3-2. But all the air is out of the balloon. The pansy hitting will likely get worse and likely excellent pitching performances by Oswalt and Clemmons will be wasted. It is over, done, finished. I told you I was depressed. :(

The game is on Saturday....I can't believe 2 ex Yankees (Pettitte and Contreras) are starting....the Yanks must be fuming.

If we steal one in Chitown, we will win this series in 5 games as well.

The clones are letting the Astros have. Only Jim Rome is really defending them. Rome's getting email's from Wohlers, Byung Yun Kim, etc... It's really annoying, but also getting me worried about Lidge's psyche.

This is the lineup I believe we'll see tomorrow:

    Biggio
    Taveras
    Berkman
    Ensberg
    Lane
    Burke
    Ausmus
    Everett

Another deer in the headlights. Lidge and Real Shady are out.

My only thought is that the reason we lost last night is that Jeff Bagwell spent the entire time on the bench. This series is waiting for him to do something. I know he's hurt and can't field. I know he's even half the hitter he was in the past. But don't be surprised if we win it all on a Bagwell liner to the gap.

Pujols has hit two of the last three sliders he's seen from Lidge. They're going up there and looking for the slider, Pujols himself said that. The two Brads need to do a better job of mixing it up a little. If Pujols is sitting on the slider and hoping to adjust to the fastball, there's no way he's going to do anything with a swifty except swing and miss.

Ok, here's my only consolation, after Edmonds hit his walk-off HR off of you-know-who last year in game 6, the Astros didn't roll over. In fact, they had a lead going into the late innings. My only hope is that this team responds with the character they've shown all year long and leaves it out on the field tomorrow night. We're going to need Roy at his nasty best to have a chance. Remember, Mulder is the dude who went 10 innings against us once already this year.

    I don't think Lamb starts Game 6 b/c of the lefty-lefty matchup.

    2B Biggio
    CF Taveras
    1B Berkman
    3B Ensberg
    RF Lane
    LF Burke
    C Ausmus
    SS Everett
    P Oswalt (7 IP, 1 ER, 8 K)

Two things I hope not to see Wednesday night:
    1. Gallo in to face Walker, I still think that's playing with fire. It can't possibly work three times in a row, can it?

    2. Mulder pitching into the 7th or 8th inning. We need to get into their bully.

GO 'STROS... take us to the promised land.

We need to hit, we need to play solid D, and we need to tack on when we have a chance. This game is all about execution. You play like you practice. Sometimes you have to ride the fundamentals to get you through adverse situations. Pitching and Fielding is what we have to rely on to pull this off. Make no mistake, as the underdog, the stros have to be PERFECT tomorrow night to pull it off.

It's going to be tough to watch. I still believe they're going to get it done. Oswalt slams the door.

    Astros - 5
    Cardinals - 0

I'll have my cell phone with me, with score updates... but I'm with you, I'm glad I'll be preoccupied during the game and at the concert.

    Houston goes into depression mode:

    Cards 7
    Astros 3

(But we'll win Game 7 with Clemens.)

A few things to hang our hat on-

The 1975 Reds. Everybody remembers Carlton Fisk's dramatic home run to win game 6. The Reds won the series.

Roy Oswalt. That dustbowl, "Grapes of Wrath" hard ass is one of the toughest minded SOB's in baseball. If any player can lead us on to the promised land it is him.

The 1994 Houston Rockets blew *two* 20 point leads at home and still beat the Suns.

The big question is.. if it get's to that point again.. do we put lidge in for the save? He pitched in 4 straight games up to that point. I know they have a day off but.. if we stick him in.. I don't think I can watch.. even though he has been "lights out" all year.

My boss is telling me the exact same thing. Astros will lose game 6, win game 7, and Clemens will go down in Astros history as the biggest Astro clutch pitcher ever.

I really don't care how it gets done....as long as it GETS DONE!!!!

All of this $@% the Astro fans have been put through will just make for the ultimate victory for the team and the city.

I have confidence that the Astros can win one in St. Louis. I dont believe in curses and I dont really believe in destiny.

Lidge choked. Thats the end of the story...

The astros got one of the games best young pitchers in the league pitching tommorw night, and most likely the best pitcher of all time waiting if needed in game 7.

Keep your head up its a shame that last night happened but its done. Yes last night is heartbreaking as they come. (stupid fox) But this team was 15-30. They aren't going to break down and give up. You guys shouldnt either...

    Game 6

    Astros 5
    Cards 2

The party has just been delayed..
